If you need a Swedish IP address, choose a VPN that explicitly offers servers in Sweden. If you are in Sweden and want privacy or access to services abroad, server location alone is not enough: check the provider’s privacy evidence, app support and performance for your own connection. The available evidence does not support a reliable ranking of five VPNs, so this guide compares the three providers for which it establishes relevant information without presenting them as a tested top five.
First, decide what you need the VPN to do
- Get a Swedish IP address: You generally need to connect to a VPN server in Sweden. This can make websites see a Swedish IP address, but it does not guarantee access to a particular service or bypass every restriction.
- Use a VPN while in Sweden: If your goal is privacy or access to services in another country, look for servers in the country you need and assess the provider’s privacy practices. A Swedish server is not automatically necessary.
- Watch streaming services: Compatibility can vary by platform, server and time. Treat a provider’s streaming claim as a claim—not proof that the service will work with your account and location.
These are distinct use cases. Before subscribing, check the provider’s current server locations and confirm that the specific app or service you intend to use is supported.
What the available provider evidence says
The information below is not a hands-on test or an overall ranking. It distinguishes provider statements from independent assurance and identifies where the available information does not establish a comparison.

| Proton VPN | Its official Sweden page says it has Swedish servers and describes using them to obtain a Swedish IP. It also markets Swedish streaming access, including Netflix access through a high-speed streaming server in Sweden. Its features and no-logs pages describe its apps, security features and policy. | The streaming statement is a provider claim, not an independent platform test. No comparable Sweden-specific speed result, current price, device limit or subscription terms are established. |
| NordVPN | It publishes speed and feature comparisons on its own Swedish comparison page. It announced a Deloitte Lithuania reasonable assurance engagement concerning its no-logs claims, based on work at the end of 2025; the announcement is dated February 3, 2026. | The speed figures are vendor-published, not independent comparative measurements. The underlying assurance report was not reviewed here, so its scope should not be described more broadly than the provider’s announcement. |
| ExpressVPN | Its trust center lists security and privacy materials, including audits and certifications. | The available information does not establish comparable Swedish server coverage, Sweden-specific performance, or streaming compatibility. |
Proton VPN’s pages support a specific Swedish-server use case, while the information available for the other two providers is narrower for that question. That difference in evidence is not a verdict on overall service quality.

How to judge privacy and security evidence
“Audited” is not a single, interchangeable assurance. Read what was examined, who performed the work, when it occurred and what conclusion the provider says it supports.
- Privacy policy: A provider’s published policy states what it says it collects, retains or shares. Proton VPN’s no-logs page describes its policy and its position under Swiss law; that is a provider statement about policy and jurisdiction.
- Assurance engagement: NordVPN’s February 3, 2026 announcement describes a reasonable assurance engagement by Deloitte Lithuania concerning no-logs claims, based on work at the end of 2025. An engagement’s value depends on its scope and report; do not treat the announcement as proof of every security or privacy property.
- App or infrastructure audit: An assessment of software or infrastructure addresses the components and scope actually examined. Proton VPN describes its apps as open source and audited. ExpressVPN’s trust center lists audits and certifications. These materials are not automatically equivalent to an assessment of logging practices.
- Protocols and features: A list of supported protocols or security features is useful for checking compatibility, but does not by itself establish a provider’s logging behavior or real-world performance.
For any provider, read the current policy and the underlying assurance materials where available. Look for the examined systems, dates, exclusions and whether the assessment is recurring or a one-time engagement.

Why a “fastest VPN for Sweden” claim needs more detail
Speed depends on more than the provider. A meaningful comparison should disclose the tester’s location, the destination server, protocol, baseline connection, time and test method. A result measured from one location cannot establish what a traveler or a household elsewhere will experience.

They should be treated as vendor comparisons, not independent Sweden-specific testing. The available information does not establish a comparable set of independent speed tests across providers, so it cannot identify a fastest option for readers in Sweden or for people connecting to Sweden from abroad.

Check these details before you subscribe
- Match the server to your goal. For a Swedish IP, confirm that the provider currently offers a Sweden location. For access to another country’s services, confirm that it has a server in that country.
- Verify the exact app and service. Check that the VPN supports your device and operating system. For streaming, confirm current compatibility with the named platform rather than relying on a broad claim.
- Inspect the privacy evidence. Read the policy and distinguish it from any independent assurance, app audit or infrastructure audit. Check the date and scope of each document.
- Compare current subscription terms. Confirm the price, renewal rate, simultaneous-device allowance, refund conditions and eligible payment methods directly with the provider. Those terms are not established in the information available here and can change.
- Test from your actual location. If performance matters, use any applicable trial or refund period to check your own connection, destination and usage. A provider’s published speed comparison is not a substitute for your own conditions.
Why this is not a ranked list of five
A trustworthy top-five ranking needs comparable evidence for at least five services: current Swedish server coverage, clearly described performance tests for relevant reader locations, privacy and security evidence, streaming checks where claimed, and current subscription limits and terms. The available information does not establish those comparisons. Naming five “best” services or assigning numerical scores would imply evidence that is not available.
Use the provider information above as a starting point, not as a universal recommendation. The right choice depends on whether you need a Swedish IP or a VPN while in Sweden, and on the provider’s current terms and performance for your specific use.
