Camera hardware: compare the tools, not just the megapixels
Google lists a 48MP wide camera with Macro Focus, a 13MP ultrawide, and a 10.8MP telephoto with 5x optical reach; its specifications also list Super Zoom to 20x. Samsung Australia lists a 200MP wide camera, 50MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Samsung’s figures here are from its Australian guide, not a US specification comparison.
These specifications describe different hardware and zoom labels, not which phone takes better photographs. Megapixel counts and stated zoom ranges alone cannot establish image quality, and there is no comparable hands-on camera testing here. Google lists the Pixel 10 battery at 4,970mAh typical capacity and 4,835mAh minimum. Its charging claim is up to 55% in about 30 minutes with a 30W USB-C PPS charger or higher; Google says the charger is sold separately. The phone also supports Qi2 wireless charging up to 15W. Samsung’s US product page displays 4,800mAh for the Fold8 Ultra, but the cited information does not establish its charging wattage.
Battery capacity is not a runtime test, so these figures cannot settle which phone lasts longer in real use. Google lists IP68 dust and water resistance and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the Pixel. The Fold8 Ultra’s exact local IP rating is not established by the cited material; check Samsung’s documentation for your region before relying on a durability comparison. Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Pixel 10 if you want a conventional handset, Google’s specified camera setup and software commitment, and the lower listed US starting price.
- Consider the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra if the larger unfolded screen is central to your use and you are willing to pay substantially more for a book-style foldable.
