For 2026, the evidence supports a shortlist of eight options—not a defensible ranking of ten: seven agent frameworks covered in LangChain’s June 6, 2026 comparison, plus Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, a managed runtime documented by AWS. The distinction matters: a framework helps you build and coordinate agent workflows; a runtime provides an environment to run them. The options below are organized by fit, not test results.
What counts as an AI agent orchestration platform?
The term covers more than one layer of software. An orchestration framework or SDK gives developers building blocks for structuring an agent workflow. A managed runtime provides a hosted environment for running agents and may work with multiple frameworks. These tools can complement each other, but they are not interchangeable choices.
For example, LangGraph describes itself as low-level orchestration infrastructure for long-running, stateful workflows that combine predictable logic with model-driven steps. AWS describes AgentCore Runtime as a secure, serverless environment that can work with multiple open-source frameworks, foundation-model providers, and protocols. One is a framework; the other is a runtime layer.

| Option | Category | Documented positioning |
|---|---|---|
| LangGraph | Orchestration framework | Long-running, stateful workflows |
| CrewAI | Agent framework | Role-based workflows, according to LangChain’s comparison |
| Microsoft Agent Framework | Agent framework | Microsoft-oriented teams, according to LangChain’s comparison |
| LlamaIndex Workflows | Workflow framework | Document-centric, event-driven systems, according to LangChain’s comparison |
| Google ADK | Agent framework | Google Cloud-oriented teams, according to LangChain’s comparison |
| OpenAI Agents SDK | Agent SDK | Scoped assistants and delegation workflows, according to LangChain’s comparison |
| Mastra | Agent application framework | TypeScript-oriented development, according to LangChain’s comparison |
| Amazon Bedrock AgentCore | Managed runtime | Hosted execution that supports multiple frameworks and protocols, according to AWS |
The first seven entries are the frameworks covered by LangChain’s June 6, 2026 guide. Its “best for” descriptions are the guide author’s positioning, not the results of independent comparative tests. AWS documentation supports including AgentCore as a distinct runtime option; it should not be treated as an eighth framework.
#1 Best Overall
LangGraph
Consider LangGraph when the workflow needs explicit orchestration over a long-running process with state. Its official overview calls it “very low-level” and “focused entirely on agent orchestration.” That description signals a focus on orchestration infrastructure, not a claim that it is the most reliable, widely adopted, or suitable choice for every team.
CrewAI
LangChain’s comparison positions CrewAI for role-based agent workflows. Google’s codelab also uses a CrewAI crew for execution in a composed example. That demonstrates one way to combine tools; it does not establish that the same arrangement is best for a production system.
Microsoft Agent Framework
LangChain’s comparison positions this framework for Microsoft-oriented teams. That broad fit does not establish its current release status, supported languages, migration path, or feature set. Check Microsoft’s current documentation for those specifics before choosing it.
Recommended Free Tools
LlamaIndex Workflows
LangChain’s comparison describes LlamaIndex Workflows as a fit for document-centric, event-driven systems. The comparison does not establish current feature details or deployment requirements, so verify those against LlamaIndex’s official documentation for your intended workflow.
Google ADK
LangChain’s comparison positions Google ADK for Google Cloud-oriented teams. In Google’s codelab, ADK is used for a control-room agent in a larger planner-and-executor arrangement. Treat that as a worked example rather than evidence of comparative quality or production readiness.
OpenAI Agents SDK
LangChain’s comparison characterizes the OpenAI Agents SDK as suitable for scoped assistants and delegation workflows. This is a high-level use-case description; consult the SDK’s current documentation before relying on a particular capability or integration.
Rank #3
Mastra
LangChain’s comparison identifies Mastra as a TypeScript-oriented agent application framework. The comparison does not establish the framework’s full current scope or supported features, so check Mastra’s official documentation against your application requirements.
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore
Consider AgentCore when the decision is about a managed environment for hosting agents rather than which orchestration library to write them with. AWS documents its Runtime as a secure, serverless environment that supports multiple open-source frameworks, foundation-model providers, and protocols. That breadth makes it a possible deployment layer alongside a framework, not a direct substitute for one.
How to choose for your workflow
Start with the control model
If you need low-level control over a stateful workflow, LangGraph has a directly documented fit. If your desired approach is role-based, CrewAI is positioned that way in LangChain’s comparison. For the other frameworks, the comparison provides broad audience or workflow cues, but not enough detail to compare their control models feature by feature.
Rank #4
Separate building from hosting
Decide whether you are selecting developer tools, a production runtime, or both. AgentCore belongs in the hosting discussion. The framework entries belong in the workflow-building discussion. A system can pair layers where appropriate, but confirm compatibility and operating requirements in the current official documentation for each product.
Assess composition without assuming it is better
Google’s codelab demonstrates a planner, executor, and control-room arrangement using ADK, LangGraph, CrewAI, and A2A, an integration protocol. It shows that tools can be composed; it does not prove the pattern is better than using one framework or appropriate for a particular production workload. Treat it as an architectural example to assess, not a default blueprint.

Before committing, check each candidate’s current official documentation for the requirements that affect your deployment: release status, supported languages, state handling, integrations, observability, evaluation, security, deployment options, and service terms. These details change, and the available comparison does not provide a consistent basis for comparing them across all eight options.
Best Value
Why this is a shortlist, not a ten-place ranking
The available evidence supports seven frameworks in LangChain’s June 6, 2026 comparison and AWS documentation for one managed runtime. It does not substantiate two additional comparable platforms or a ten-way performance ranking. Adding names without candidate-level verification would make the list look more complete while making it less useful.
There are also no independently established performance, reliability, adoption, or total-cost results here. LangChain’s “best for” labels are useful as attributed positioning, not as independent test findings. Choose based on the workflow and deployment layer you need, then verify the current product documentation rather than treating any entry as a universal winner.
