CHOICE recommends Coles Ultimate Cookies 40% Chocolate Chip, giving the 400 g pack a 77% Expert Rating. Its 84% taste score is strong, but its nutrition score is just 10%—so the result is a verdict on taste, not a health endorsement.
What did CHOICE think of Coles Ultimate cookies?
CHOICE marks the packaged Coles Ultimate Cookies 40% Chocolate Chip “Recommended.” Its product page lists an overall Expert Rating of 77%, a taste-test score of 84%, and a nutrition score of 10%. The high overall result reflects a test weighted heavily toward sensory qualities, while the low nutrition result is an important separate consideration. See CHOICE’s product review.
CHOICE’s category guide calls it the tastiest choc-chip cookie in its test, saying it outperformed the bakery-style cookies on sensory score. How CHOICE scored the cookies
CHOICE says three expert tasters blind-tasted 22 products at room temperature, judging appearance, aroma, flavour and texture. The sensory score weights flavour at 50%, texture at 30%, appearance at 10% and aroma at 10%. Sensory results account for 90% of the overall Expert Rating; nutrition, based on the Health Star Rating, accounts for the remaining 10%. CHOICE says it recommends products scoring 75% or higher.

This weighting helps explain the Coles cookie’s result: a high taste score can drive a strong overall rating even when the nutrition score is low. The overall rating should not be read as a health assessment.
Pack size and listed price
CHOICE’s product page identifies a 400 g pack containing 26 cookies. It lists the price as $5, equivalent on that page to $0.19 per cookie and $1.25 per 100 g. The page does not establish that these are current shelf prices; treat them as listed figures, not a live Coles price quote.

Which Coles Ultimate product is this?
“Coles Ultimate” refers to more than one cookie product. CHOICE’s review is specifically for the packaged Coles Ultimate Cookies 40% Chocolate Chip in a 400 g pack. Coles also lists a distinct gluten-free product, Coles Ultimate Gluten Free Cookies 40% Triple Chocolate Chips, in a 252 g pack. That variant is not the cookie covered by CHOICE’s review. Some shoppers use “Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies” to mean Coles’ freshly baked cookies rather than the packaged shelf product. Those are different products, so a recipe or review for one should not be assumed to describe the other.
