China Construction Bank (CCB) has two ordinary share listings: its Hong Kong H-shares trade under 939 (often displayed as 00939) in Hong Kong dollars (HKD), while its Shanghai A-shares trade under 601939 in renminbi (RMB). Their trading hours follow the local time and calendar of their respective exchanges.

Which China Construction Bank stock code should you use?

Choose the code by the exchange and share class you mean:

CCB share class Exchange Code Trading currency
H-shares Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) Main Board 939, commonly displayed as 00939 HKD
A-shares Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) 601939 RMB

CCB’s General Shareholder Information FAQ identifies 939 as the H-share ticker and 601939 as the A-share ticker. A CCB filing defines A-shares as listed on the SSE and traded in RMB, and H-shares as listed on HKEX and traded in Hong Kong dollars (filing definitions).

CCB’s 2025 half-year report also identifies a Shanghai-listed domestic preference share under code 360030. That is a separate share class, not the ordinary A-share code 601939 (2025 half-year report).

What time do CCB shares trade?

The schedules below are for regular full trading days. Hong Kong times are Hong Kong local time; Shanghai times are China Standard Time. Auction periods are shown separately from continuous trading.

Hong Kong H-shares: 939 / 00939

Session Regular hours
Pre-opening 9:00–9:30
Morning continuous trading 9:30–12:00
Extended morning session 12:00–13:00
Afternoon continuous trading 13:00–16:00
Closing auction Begins at 16:00; closing time is random between 16:08 and 16:10

These are the regular sessions in the HKEX Securities Market FAQ. HKEX says securities trading generally takes place Monday through Friday, except public holidays. It also notes that the extended morning and afternoon sessions do not apply on the eves of Christmas, New Year, and Lunar New Year; half-day schedules can have different closing-auction times.

Shanghai A-shares: 601939

Opening call auction 9:15–9:25
Morning continuous trading 9:30–11:30
Afternoon continuous trading 13:00–14:57

The times are from the SSE Trading Schedule. Check that schedule for the exchange’s current trading and holiday arrangements.

How to check whether the market is open on a specific date

  1. Identify the listing. Use HKEX for CCB’s Hong Kong H-shares (939/00939) or the SSE for its Shanghai A-shares (601939).
  2. Check the exchange’s schedule for the date. Review the HKEX schedule or SSE schedule for holidays, half-days, or other special arrangements.
  3. Read the relevant local time. Do not apply Hong Kong’s session times to Shanghai or assume both exchanges share the same trading calendar.

The codes identify the listings, but they do not guarantee that a particular broker offers access to either venue. Check your account’s eligible markets and trading currency with the broker.
