China Construction Bank (CCB) reported Group net profit of RMB171.677 billion for the six months ended 30 June 2026, up 5.56% from the same period in 2025. That figure is profit growth—not a 5.56% rise in CCB stock—and the bank’s net profit attributable to its equity shareholders grew by a different rate: 4.62%.
What CCB reported for the first half of 2026
CCB announced its interim results on 28 August 2026; its half-year report was posted on 28 September. The report compares the six months ended 30 June 2026 with the corresponding six months of 2025. Amounts below are in RMB millions, with year-on-year changes unless noted.

The 5.56% headline is the change in Group net profit, which includes profit attributable to shareholders and other interests. It should not be substituted for the separate 4.62% growth in profit attributable to the Bank’s equity shareholders. Both figures come from CCB’s 2026 half-year report.
What CCB says supported profit growth
Interest income rose
Net interest income increased 8.46% to RMB310.958 billion. CCB attributed the rise to factors including growth in business scale and stabilisation of net interest margin. The reported margin was 1.37%; CCB said it was 1 basis point above the first quarter of 2026 and 3 basis points above the 2025 full-year level. These are the bank’s explanations and reported comparisons, not independent proof of what caused the change. See CCB’s 28 August results release for the margin update.

Non-interest income increased, but fees declined
Net non-interest income rose 16.31% to RMB115.375 billion. CCB said improved comprehensive financial-service capabilities and its capture of market opportunities contributed to the increase. Net fee and commission income, however, fell 1.42% to RMB64.289 billion, so the rise was not shared by every income stream.
Higher impairment losses are a counterweight
Credit impairment losses increased 20.79% to RMB130.028 billion. This measure is an expense, not income; its increase matters when assessing how much of the operating-income growth translated into profit. The report’s profit growth alone does not establish that asset quality improved.

Asset quality, capital and proposed dividend
CCB reported a non-performing loan ratio of 1.29%, 0.02 percentage points below the prior year-end. Its allowance-to-NPL ratio was 238.69%, up 5.54 percentage points. The release also reported a total capital adequacy ratio of 19.42% and a core tier-1 capital adequacy ratio of 14.24%.

The board proposed an interim cash dividend of RMB2.010 per 10 shares, tax inclusive. CCB estimated the total at about RMB52.582 billion and the proposed payout ratio at 31.0%. The proposal was to be submitted to a shareholders’ meeting for deliberation; it was not reported as approved or paid in the release. What the earnings report does—and does not—say about CCB stock
CCB identifies its Shanghai-listed shares by code 601939 and its Hong Kong-listed shares by code 00939. The earnings report describes the bank’s financial performance; it does not give a current share price, valuation, expected investment return, or a recommendation to buy or sell. A company’s profit growth and its stock’s price return are different measures.
For a useful comparison with another period or bank, use the same reporting duration, accounting basis and profit definition. For example, compare Group net profit with Group net profit, rather than matching it against shareholder-attributable profit. Other relevant measures in this report include operating-income growth, net interest margin, the split between interest and non-interest income, impairment losses, non-performing loans and capital ratios.
