To move money from Chime to PayPal, link either your Chime checking account or Chime Visa debit card in PayPal, then use PayPal’s add-money flow. Linking a checking account is the fee-free route Chime identifies for sending money; a debit-card route may have a PayPal fee. To move money the other way, withdraw from PayPal to your linked Chime account or an eligible Chime debit card. The available methods, fees, and arrival estimates can vary by account, so check PayPal’s confirmation screen before submitting.
Choose how to link Chime in PayPal
Chime says you can link your account using either the debit card or your Chime routing and account numbers. The account route links your Chime checking account; the card route uses your Chime Visa debit card. You do not need an activated physical card to link the checking account manually.

- Find the details in Chime. In the Chime app, open your Chime Visa Debit Card details to use the card route, or find your checking account’s routing and account numbers for manual bank linking. Keep these details private and enter them only in PayPal’s official app or website.
- Start linking in PayPal. Open Wallet and choose the option to link a bank account or debit card. Enter the Chime debit-card details, or enter the routing and account numbers if PayPal offers manual bank linking in your account.
- Verify a manually linked bank account. PayPal sends two small test deposits to the Chime account. Check for them in Chime, then enter or confirm the deposit amounts in PayPal when prompted.
Move money from Chime into PayPal
After linking, use PayPal’s add-money flow and select the Chime funding source. Chime says sending from a linked checking account is free, while using a Chime debit card may incur a PayPal fee. The route PayPal offers, its fee, and the displayed arrival estimate depend on the account and method selected.

PayPal’s U.S. help guidance, accessed October 7, 2026, publishes debit-card add-money limits of $5,000 per day, $10,000 per week, and $20,000 per month. These are PayPal’s stated limits, not a guarantee of the amount available to a particular user; your account’s available limit may differ.

Withdraw money from PayPal to Chime
In PayPal, start a withdrawal or transfer and select the linked Chime checking account or an eligible Chime debit card. PayPal shows the available destinations and estimated arrival before you confirm.

Fix common linking or transfer problems
- Bank linking is waiting for verification: Check Chime for PayPal’s two small test deposits and enter the amounts in PayPal’s verification flow.
- The card or account is missing as a transfer option: PayPal says eligibility varies and displays the accounts or cards available for each transfer route. Use an option shown in the app rather than assuming every linked source supports instant transfers.
- A transfer fails: Check that the name and account details match, and look for a PayPal account limitation or an unsupported bank/card method. Correct any details through the official apps, then retry if PayPal permits.
- You need to check Chime limits: In Chime, go to Profile > Account details > View limits. Chime says its external-bank ACH transfers are not subject to the same daily limits as instant transfers, though the other institution may apply its own limits.
Chime does not support Zelle, so Zelle is not an alternate way to route this transfer.
Check the current details before you confirm
Chime’s PayPal-specific timing and PayPal’s general funding guidance do not always describe the same route or estimate. Fees, eligible methods, and personalized limits can also differ by account. Treat the options, fee, and estimated arrival displayed in the apps for your specific transfer as authoritative.
