Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Brenen Thompson was ruled out of the October 4, 2026, game against the Seattle Seahawks after missing practice with a quadriceps injury. He was expected to miss his second consecutive game. The October 2 update gave no return date.
Why Brenen Thompson was ruled out
Thompson missed practice Thursday during the Chargers’ Week 4 preparations because of a quadriceps injury, according to RotoWire’s October 1 report. He had also missed the Chargers’ previous game, a Sunday loss to Buffalo. The next day, CBS Sports’ Chargers news feed carried a RotoWire update confirming that Thompson was ruled out against Seattle.
The reports do not identify how the injury happened, its severity, the treatment he is receiving, or when he might return. The October 2 status applies to the Seahawks game; it does not establish his availability for later games.

Who was expected to fill his role?
Thompson was described as a depth receiver. During his absence, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Derius Davis were expected to rotate behind Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, and Tre’ Harris, according to the October 2 update. That was an expectation about the receiver rotation, not a guarantee of any individual player’s snaps or workload.
What is known about his next return?
The available October 1 and October 2 reports do not provide a return date or a later practice status. A newer dated team or player update is needed to establish when Thompson might practice or play again.
