Police in Chandigarh have arrested Lakshya, 20, a school friend of the teenager accused of killing head constable Nitin Singh. Police allege Lakshya connected the teen to a weapons dealer in Haridwar. The account describes allegations and custody developments—not a conviction or a court finding.
Who was arrested, and when?
Hindustan Times reported on October 3, 2026, that Lakshya, a Ramdarbar resident, was arrested on Thursday night, October 1. Police said he and Armaan Singh, the teenage suspect in the killing, had attended the same private school in Sector 45. The report described Lakshya’s arrest as the third in the case.
What do police allege Lakshya did?
Police allege that Lakshya and Armaan travelled together to Haridwar in August, where Armaan made contact with Mohammad Shaheen, whom the report describes as a weapons dealer. Police say Armaan later returned to Haridwar alone, about ten days before the killing, to buy a pistol. The report says police cited CCTV footage showing Armaan and Lakshya travelling to Haridwar.
Police said Lakshya was arrested with a country-made pistol whose make they described as similar to the one allegedly used by Armaan. The reported similarity does not establish that it was the same weapon, or that Lakshya supplied the weapon used in the killing.

What happened in the killing case?
Head constable Nitin Singh was shot at his family’s home in Sector 22 on September 25, 2026. Police allege Armaan argued with his father after an alarm set for 4 a.m. woke him, then shot him after Nitin went back to sleep. Police say the weapon was later recovered from the terrace.
Police also allege that Armaan wanted money for a second-hand automobile business, resented his father’s response and wanted access to family property. The report further says police allege Armaan intended to kill his mother; she alerted neighbours after discovering Nitin’s body and when Armaan allegedly tried to attack her. These are claims reported as police allegations, not established court findings.

Armaan was arrested on the day of the crime, and Shaheen was arrested three days later; the report says both were also sent to judicial custody after their police custody ended. Custody is a procedural status, not a determination of guilt, and the report does not establish later charges, trial outcomes or court findings.
