At CES 2024, AMD announced three different kinds of PC upgrades: Ryzen 8000G desktop processors with integrated graphics for new AM5 systems, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D for compatible AM4 systems, and the Radeon RX 7600 XT with 16GB of dedicated graphics memory. They serve different buyers: a compact or lower-cost build, an upgrade that can extend an existing AM4 PC, or a system with a discrete graphics card.
What AMD announced at CES 2024
AMD’s January 8, 2024 announcement covered four Ryzen 8000G desktop processors—Ryzen 7 8700G, Ryzen 5 8600G, Ryzen 5 8500G and Ryzen 3 8300G—alongside the Ryzen 7 5700X3D. AMD also announced the Radeon RX 7600 XT, a separate graphics card that became available later that month. The CPU and GPU announcements are related by timing, not by a requirement to use them together.
The 8000G family uses Zen 4 CPU cores and integrated Radeon 700M graphics, and supports AMD EXPO memory profiles. AMD described the 8700G and 8600G as having Ryzen AI NPU capability. The 5700X3D instead adds 3D V-Cache to AMD’s older AM4 platform; the RX 7600 XT is a discrete GPU with its own 16GB of memory.

Ryzen 8000G: integrated graphics for a new AM5 build
The Ryzen 7 8700G was the family’s flagship. It has eight cores and 16 threads, boosts up to 5.1GHz, includes 24MB of cache and has a 65W TDP. Its integrated graphics are Radeon 780M. AMD announced a $329 suggested price (SEP) for the processor.
#1 Best Overall
- The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
- 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
- 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz
- Drop-in ready for proven Socket AM5 infrastructure
- Cooler not included
The Ryzen 5 8600G has six cores and 12 threads, boosts up to 5.0GHz, includes 22MB of cache and also has a 65W TDP. It uses Radeon 760M integrated graphics and supports Ryzen AI. AMD announced a $229 SEP.
The announcement named the Ryzen 5 8500G and Ryzen 3 8300G as additional family members, but the details summarized here do not establish their specifications or suggested prices. The 8000G processors require an AM5 motherboard and DDR5 memory, so choosing one means building or upgrading to that platform—not dropping it into an AM4 system.

Who should consider an 8000G processor?
- Builders who want a PC that can run without a separate graphics card, subject to the performance needs of their games and applications.
- People prioritizing a smaller or lower-cost system, where integrated graphics can avoid the cost and space of a discrete GPU.
- Buyers planning an AM5/DDR5 build who also want the specific Ryzen AI capability AMD identifies for the 8700G and 8600G.
AMD announced DIY and system-integrator availability for January 31, 2024, with OEM systems expected in Q2 2024. Those are original launch timings, not a statement of present inventory or pricing.

The Ryzen 7 5700X3D is an eight-core, 16-thread AM4 processor with boost speeds up to 4.1GHz, 100MB of total cache and a 105W TDP. AMD announced a $249 SEP. Its 3D V-Cache is intended to improve gaming performance, and its significance is that it extends the upgrade options for the long-lived AM4 platform.

It is the option to investigate if you already have a compatible AM4 motherboard and want a processor upgrade without moving to AM5 and DDR5. Check the board maker’s CPU-support list and required BIOS version before buying or installing it; compatibility depends on the specific motherboard and firmware. The announcement does not establish that every AM4 board supports the chip.
Radeon RX 7600 XT: 16GB discrete graphics
The Radeon RX 7600 XT is a standalone graphics card with 16GB of memory. AMD positioned it for 1080p-and-beyond gaming. Unlike the 8000G’s integrated Radeon graphics, it is a separate component that needs to fit the case, connect to the system and receive sufficient power.

AMD announced availability on January 24, 2024 through Acer, ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire and XFX, with a launch price under $350. That is historical launch context rather than a current retail-price claim. AMD’s product page recommends a minimum 600W power supply with 12V output above 42A. Check the exact card’s power connectors and dimensions as well as the PSU’s specifications before purchasing.

The announcement alone does not establish how the card compares with alternatives across games, settings or current prices. Its 16GB capacity is a notable specification, but it does not by itself guarantee a particular frame rate or make the card the best choice for every 1080p build.

Quick Recap
Which announcement matters for your PC?
- You are building a new system without a separate graphics card: compare the 8700G and 8600G around the CPU and integrated-graphics performance you need, while accounting for the AM5 motherboard and DDR5 memory.
- You already own an AM4 PC: check motherboard and BIOS support for the 5700X3D before treating it as a drop-in upgrade. Its platform fit is different from that of the 8000G chips.
- You need a discrete GPU: assess the RX 7600 XT as a graphics-card purchase, and verify case fit and AMD’s PSU guidance. Do not treat the 16GB figure alone as an independent performance ranking.
