To center an Excel worksheet on a printed page, open Page Layout > Margins > Custom Margins, then select Horizontally and Vertically under Center on page. Check only one option if you want to center in just that direction. This changes print positioning, not the alignment of cells on screen.
Center a worksheet horizontally and vertically in desktop Excel

Select the worksheet you want to print. To apply the setting to several worksheets, select those sheets first. In Windows, hold Shift while selecting adjacent sheet tabs, or Ctrl for non-adjacent tabs. To select all sheets, use the sheet-tab context menu. When sheets are grouped, Excel shows [Group] in the title bar; select an ungrouped sheet or choose Ungroup Sheets when finished.

Go to Page Layout > Margins > Custom Margins.

In the Page Setup dialog, find Center on page. Select Horizontally and Vertically to center the worksheet in both directions.

Choose File > Print to preview the page before printing. In Windows Print Preview, select Show Margins to display margin handles; drag them if you need to adjust the margins.

Microsoft documents this path for Excel for Microsoft 365 and Excel 2024, 2021, 2019, and 2016 on Windows. The ribbon and dialog appearance may vary by version.
Choose horizontal, vertical, or both

Steps for Excel for Mac
Select the worksheet, then choose Page Layout > Margins > Custom Margins. In Page Setup, select Horizontally and Vertically under Center on page. Preview through File > Print. Microsoft lists these directions for Microsoft 365 for Mac and Excel 2024 for Mac and 2021 for Mac. Microsoft’s Mac margin instructions provide the platform-specific steps.

Excel for the web and page centering
Microsoft says Excel for the web does not support setting page margins, so you cannot use this margin-based centering procedure there. Open the workbook in desktop Excel to set the worksheet’s print margins and centering options. Some other page setup options may be available on the web app’s Page Layout tab, but that does not enable this margin setting. See Microsoft’s Windows margin guidance.

Why the printout may still look off-center
The centering checkboxes control position within the page margins. They do not scale the worksheet to fit a chosen number of pages, choose a print area, or set paper size and orientation. Those are separate Page Setup controls; Microsoft describes them separately in its Page Setup overview.

Confirm the intended sheet is selected. If multiple sheets are grouped, check that the desired sheet was included and that the selection is no longer unintentionally grouped.

Review the print area. A defined print area changes which cells are included, which can affect how the printed content appears on the page.

Check paper size and orientation. The selected paper dimensions and portrait or landscape orientation affect the available printable area.

Check scaling and page breaks. If the worksheet spans multiple pages, centering positions content on the page; scaling and page breaks determine how it is distributed across pages.

Inspect the print preview. Use File > Print to see the result before printing. Microsoft’s worksheet printing quick start covers previewing a worksheet.
Where Excel saves the setting
In Windows Excel, worksheet margin settings are saved with that worksheet when you save the workbook. The setting does not change default margins for new workbooks; Microsoft says those defaults cannot be changed through this worksheet setting. The details are in Microsoft’s margin instructions.
