Cato Networks announced Cato Dynamic Prevention on March 3, 2026, as an auto-adaptive threat-prevention engine within its SASE platform. The company says it uses behavior across its sensors to identify malicious activity in context, then automatically adjusts restrictions across related actions. Later Cato documentation describes a capability called Agentic Threat Prevention, with analyses every four hours of a rolling 24-hour window. The sources do not explain precisely how the two names and descriptions relate.
What Cato announced
Cato’s March 3, 2026 announcement introduced Cato Dynamic Prevention as an auto-adaptive threat-prevention engine in the Cato SASE Platform. Cato said it was generally available worldwide as part of that platform.
The feature targets stealthy, multi-stage attacks that can use legitimate tools and credentials to evade defenses based on signatures or a single point-in-time observation. Cato’s central claim is that behavior becomes more meaningful when correlated across time and sensors, allowing the system to respond to a pattern rather than an isolated event. Network World also describes the announcement in the context of adaptive threat defense for SASE: Network World’s coverage.

Behavioral context and adaptive enforcement
In its launch description, Cato says Dynamic Prevention correlates longer-term behavior observed across Cato sensors. Once it identifies malicious behavior, it adapts restrictions across related actions. This is Cato’s account of the product’s mechanism, not an independently tested finding.

What later documentation says about timing
Cato’s later Agentic Threat Prevention documentation describes agents analyzing network-wide traffic and security signals every four hours. Each analysis reviews the previous 24 hours across entities including users, hosts, sites, and applications. The documentation says dynamic controls can be applied, adjusted, or allowed to expire as risk changes, using existing enforcement engines.
The launch announcement uses the name Cato Dynamic Prevention; the later documentation uses Agentic Threat Prevention and gives the four-hour and 24-hour details. The sources do not specify the exact naming relationship or establish that every later operating detail applies to the launch feature in every configuration.

How it fits into Cato’s SASE platform
Cato describes its platform as a cloud-native, single-pass architecture that combines networking and security, including threat prevention, CASB, DLP, and ZTNA. Its platform architecture overview says organizations can deploy gradually alongside existing infrastructure. That integration is relevant to buyers assessing whether adaptive controls operate within an existing network-security platform or require separate tools and consoles.
What the published performance figures do—and do not—show
Cato’s AI security page cites a global blacklist of more than 5 million indicators of compromise (IoCs) and says its real-time maliciousness scoring blocks 3–6 times more than reputation lists alone for DGA and cybersquatting domains. These are Cato-published figures. The reviewed sources do not provide independent validation or enough methodology to treat them as comparative test results for Dynamic Prevention itself.

- 【Up to 1100 Mbps VPN Speed 】 Hardware-accelerated WireGuard and OpenVPN-DCO deliver up to 1100 Mbps VPN throughput, over 3× faster than Brume 2 for smooth remote access and file transfers.
- 【Three 2.5G Ports & Multi-WAN】Tri-port 2.5GbE design with flexible WAN LAN configuration supports multi-gigabit wired setups, dual-ISP Multi-WAN and failover to keep home and SOHO networks online.
- 【Stealth VPN Obfuscation】VPN obfuscation disguises VPN traffic as regular HTTPS, helping you evade blocking, bypass restrictive networks and maintain stable, private connections.
- 【DPI protection】Deep Packet Inspection with visual dashboards blocks adult/gambling/malicious sites, while SQM and QoS prioritize gaming, calls, and video when bandwidth is tight
- 【OpenWrt & USB 3.0 Expansion】OpenWrt with 1GB DDR4 and 8GB eMMC lets you install plugins and build VPN, ad-blocking or NAS, while USB 3.0 Type‑C connects high-speed storage or 4G/5G dongles
More broadly, the reviewed sources do not establish independent comparative testing of Dynamic Prevention’s detection efficacy, false-positive rate, or ability to prevent breaches. Cato executive Lior Cohen described the launch as understanding behavior in context, predicting a threat actor’s next move, and automatically enforcing protection against true-positive threats. That is the vendor’s characterization, not a verified third-party outcome.

For an enterprise buyer, the useful comparison is not simply whether a product is described as AI-powered. Ask vendors to make the operating boundaries and evidence clear:

- Runs UniFi Network for full-stack network management
- Manages 30+ UniFi Network devices and 300+ clients
- 1 Gbps routing with IDS/IPS
- Multi-WAN load balancing
- 0.96" LCM status display
- Context window and signal coverage: Which users, devices, sites, applications, and security events feed the analysis, and how far back does it look?
- Response and reversibility: Which policies or controls can change automatically, how soon can they change, and how are they reviewed, adjusted, or removed?
- Platform integration: Is enforcement built into the network and security platform, or does it depend on separate products and management consoles?
- Evidence quality: Are efficacy and false-positive claims supported by independent tests and published methodology?
- Deployment fit: Can the capability be introduced gradually alongside existing network and security infrastructure?
Cato’s materials describe aspects of its context, controls, and platform architecture. They do not provide an independent head-to-head evaluation across these criteria.
