Tom’s Guide reported on October 2, 2026, that the Casper Original queen mattress was $884 on Amazon, down from a stated $1,295, and described the offer as an early Prime Day deal requiring Prime membership. That is a dated report—not a confirmed live price: the offer, seller, stock and Prime eligibility were not independently verified for October 3. Check the exact Amazon listing before buying. Tom’s Guide’s October 2 deal report
What the reported Casper Original deal included
The reported queen price was $884 versus a stated former price of $1,295—a $411 difference, which Tom’s Guide described as 32% off. The report’s headline said “up to $528 off,” but its queen example does not show that saving. Do not assume the maximum headline discount applies to every size.
Tom’s Guide’s October 2 price module listed these size prices. They are marketplace figures from that report, not current quotes:
| Size | Reported deal price | Reported former price |
|---|---|---|
| Twin | $634 | $895 |
| Twin XL | $701.26 | $995 |
| Full | $834 | $1,195 |
| Queen | $884 | $1,295 |
Prices can change by size, seller and time. Check the price shown for your chosen size at checkout, along with delivery, stock and whether the offer actually requires Prime.

What kind of mattress is the Casper Original?
It is an all-foam mattress. Tom’s Guide characterized its feel as medium-firm, while noting that reviews suggest it can feel softer. The publication describes foam layers that cushion the shoulders and hips while supporting the spine. Casper’s official U.S. Original Foam page describes Signature Foam, premium memory foam and three ergonomic support zones intended to support spinal alignment.
There is a specification discrepancy worth checking: Tom’s Guide described the deal mattress as 10 inches tall, while Casper’s official page lists the Original Foam at 11 inches. The sources do not establish whether this reflects different versions or a reporting error. Confirm the exact model and dimensions in the Amazon listing rather than assuming the two descriptions refer to an identical version.

How it may suit different sleepers
Tom’s Guide’s testers reported that the Original was particularly suitable for side sleepers and isolated motion well, a potential advantage for people sharing a bed. They also found it slept a little warm. These are the publication’s observations, not a guarantee of how it will feel to every sleeper.

How it compares with the Casper alternatives in the deal report
Tom’s Guide also cited two Casper models on Amazon. The following prices are its October 2 queen-size snapshots, not verified current offers; confirm each model, seller and terms on the listing.
| Model | Reported queen price | Reported former price | Distinction in the report |
|---|---|---|---|
| Casper Sleep Element | $426.18 | $645 | Lower-cost option described as a possible guest-room pick; the report raised a possible durability trade-off versus the Original. |
| Casper Original | $884 | $1,295 | All-foam model; Tom’s Guide reported good motion isolation and a slightly warm sleep. |
| Casper Original Hybrid | $984 | $1,495 | Uses springs rather than the Original’s foam support; the report presented it as potentially bouncier and more breathable for hot sleepers. |
Choose by the final price for your size, construction, preferred feel, sleeping temperature and motion isolation—not by the discount headline alone. The deal report also attached a 100-night trial and 10-year warranty to the Element; verify those terms for the exact listing before relying on them.

Check the trial, warranty and seller before ordering
Casper’s U.S. mattress trial policy provides a 100-night trial, with a 30-night adjustment period before a return can be initiated. What to verify on Amazon before you buy
- Select the intended mattress size and confirm the final price at checkout; the October 2 figures may no longer apply.
- Check the seller, stock, delivery details and whether Prime membership is required for the displayed offer.
- Confirm the model name, construction and listed height, especially given the 10-inch versus 11-inch discrepancy in the cited descriptions.
- Read the listing’s return and warranty information and verify that the seller qualifies for the terms you expect.
- Compare the mattress with the Element and Original Hybrid using current size-specific prices and the construction and comfort factors that matter to you.
The headline wording in Tom’s Guide’s deal coverage came from an anonymous Amazon reviewer, not a Tom’s Guide staff member. The same report included another anonymous review calling the mattress “great for bad backs”; that customer opinion is not evidence of a medical benefit.
