Cash App’s Bitcoin Bonus is an optional promotion that can pay eligible users a bonus in bitcoin based on an eligible balance snapshot. Block CEO Jack Dorsey’s “turn it on” post accompanied the feature’s announcement, but the quoted phrase is not a promise of a particular return: a contemporaneous report described weekly rewards of up to 2% annually, while Cash App’s general terms do not guarantee that rate or schedule for every user. Check the offer shown in your account before opting in.
What Jack Dorsey said—and what the feature is
Benzinga, in a report republished by TradingView, said Dorsey posted “turn it on” on September 30, 2026, while sharing Cash App’s announcement of Bitcoin Bonus. That brief post did not explain the program’s terms or risks. The feature itself is an opt-in Cash App promotion: eligible users may receive bitcoin based on an eligible virtual currency balance. TradingView’s report describes weekly rewards of up to 2% annually in BTC, but Cash App’s general terms do not establish that as a universal rate or promise weekly payouts.
How Bitcoin Bonus works
Cash App’s Terms of Service say users must opt in to participate. Cash App calculates a bonus using a snapshot of the eligible balance when it determines the bonus, then pays any award in bitcoin. The amount may be rounded, limited, delayed, cancelled, or forfeited according to disclosures in Cash App or as Cash App determines.

The terms say participation does not change how the virtual currency is held, require you to lock it up, or prevent you from selling or withdrawing it. That flexibility does not make a bonus guaranteed: the program’s rates, eligibility, award amounts, payout timing, and geographic availability can change, and Cash App may suspend or end the program.

What to check in your account before opting in
Offers are not necessarily identical for every user. Cash App’s Offers Terms say users may see different offers and that each offer has its own requirements. Review the specific Bitcoin Bonus offer in your app rather than assuming the reported maximum or weekly cadence applies to you.
- Eligibility: Confirm that the offer is available to your account and in your location.
- Rate and balance calculation: Check the stated rate, which balance qualifies, and when Cash App takes the snapshot.
- Payout: Read the offer’s payout timing and any limits, rounding, delay, cancellation, or forfeiture conditions.
- Access to bitcoin: The general terms say the promotion does not impose a lockup, but read any offer-specific disclosures before accepting.
Taxes and other limits to keep in mind
Cash App warns that promotional bonuses may be taxable or subject to tax reporting, and says users are responsible for applicable taxes. The tax treatment depends on your circumstances; the terms do not establish one outcome for every user. Keep the offer details and records of any bitcoin bonus, and consult a qualified tax professional if you need advice for your situation.

Cash App’s general terms describe the broad mechanics, not a fixed return. The “up to 2% annually” and weekly reward details are claims in the contemporaneous news report, not a universal rate or schedule confirmed by those terms.
