CARROT Weather 6 launched on May 29, 2024, as a major redesign for Apple devices. Its new default look turns the forecast into a changing garden, while a data-point picker and more than a dozen layout options let users reshape what they see. The app remained free to download, with optional subscriptions unlocking additional data sources, alerts, maps, and customization.
What changed in the CARROT Weather 6 redesign?
CARROT Weather’s official press kit describes version 6.0 as a complete redesign developed over more than a year. Its visual centerpiece is a lively, changing garden that serves as the default layout. Paid users could keep their existing layouts rather than switch to the new one.
Choose what the hourly chart shows
The hourly forecast gained a data-point picker. Select a measure such as precipitation chance or wind speed, and the chart animates and changes color to display that measure. The daily forecast below also updates to show the selected measure’s outlook, connecting the chart choice to the forecast detail that follows.
Adjust forecast sections and chart styles
The launch materials describe more than a dozen layout options under Layout, including new styles for Weather Alerts and minutely, hourly, and daily forecasts. Hourly and daily forecasts could use line charts, with choices for line placement and color. In the minutely section, users could switch between a precipitation chart and a small local radar map.

Two additional launch features
- Weather News: Articles sourced from AccuWeather, with regionally relevant stories placed higher in the layout.
- Morning temperature comparison: A notification comparing the current location’s temperature today with yesterday’s. CARROT’s launch materials say it required Premium.
When did version 6 launch, and which devices were announced?
CARROT’s press kit gives the release day as May 29, while the App Store version history places the version 6 redesign in the May 2024 launch period. Together, those sources identify the launch date as May 29, 2024.
The press kit announced version 6 for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple Vision Pro, and Apple Silicon Macs. The current Apple App Store listing instead presents support for iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision, and Apple Watch. These are different snapshots: the first is the launch-era platform announcement, and the second is the current listing. The store listing does not establish Apple Silicon Mac support in its current device description.

Is CARROT Weather free, and what do subscriptions unlock?
CARROT Weather 6 was free to download with optional subscriptions, according to the launch press kit. The current App Store description also presents a free download with paid Premium tiers. It lists multiple weather data sources, precipitation and severe-weather notifications where available, Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, Live Activities, Apple Watch complications, weather maps, interface customization, and a CarPlay app. Subscription benefits can change; the feature descriptions below reflect the current store listing, not a promise of future availability.

Those are launch-era prices, not verified current rates. Some weather capabilities also depend on availability by region or device, as indicated in the store listing.

What arrived in later version 6 updates?
Version 6 continued to change after its 2024 launch. The App Store’s version history records a September 15, 2025, version 6.3 update with a glassy redesign, iPad multitasking support, more secret locations and power-ups, daily content, and new achievements. It also describes a chatbot feature for devices that support Apple Intelligence. These are later additions, not features of the original May 2024 redesign.

CARROT’s design changes and customization options are documented in its launch materials, but those materials do not quantify any change in forecast accuracy, adoption, or user response. The App Store listing showed 4.7 out of 5 from 87K ratings when accessed in 2026; that is a time-sensitive rating snapshot, not an accuracy measurement.
