Car Park Capital turns a familiar city-building premise inside out: you are hired by “Big Auto” to make a city built around public transport more dependent on cars. In a review published October 6, 2026, Rock Paper Shotgun describes a satirical management loop of buying land, building parking, supplying cars and promoting their use while transit competes for residents’ attention. Steam lists the PC game for Early Access on October 9, 2026.

What is Car Park Capital?

Car Park Capital is a strategy and simulation game about car dependency and urban development. Its central joke is that you are not trying to make a city cleaner or easier to navigate: you are working for “Big Auto” to profit by replacing the advantages of public transport with a culture built around private cars. The official Steam description calls it satire and social commentary on those subjects.

The review’s opening question—“After all, can you imagine a world without cars?”—sets up the reversal. Baldtown City begins as a place where people use subways, bus stops and an intercity metro. Your job is to change what the city offers and what its residents want.

How the gameplay works

Find places to build

In the review’s opening scenario, you inspect a transport-demand heatmap, buy a plot near an office block, then bulldoze a park to make room for a parking lot. That sequence establishes the game’s satirical trade-off: land that serves public or green space can instead be turned into infrastructure for cars.

Promote car use and supply vehicles

The review describes placing pro-car signs and driving a van with a bullhorn to promote the new culture. It also describes building factories to produce cars and moving those vehicles into town for sale. The loop therefore reaches beyond construction: it links physical capacity, vehicle supply and efforts to create demand.

Compete with public transport

Parking and available cars do not operate in a vacuum. The review frames the challenge as balancing parking supply, car availability and consumer demand against public transport, which already serves the city. The tension between those systems is the game’s main management problem as well as the source of its satire.

What makes the satire work?

The contrast is immediate: Baldtown starts with transit connections and green space, while the player’s pursuit of profit means paving over amenities and persuading residents to use cars. Rather than presenting car dependence as a neutral planning choice, the premise makes the player an active force reshaping the city around it.

Steam’s official listing also describes features such as demolishing homes, propaganda, protests, oil drilling and competition with public transport. Those are publisher-listed features; the October 6 review’s described opening focuses on the heatmap, park demolition, parking, promotion and car supply, so the broader list should be read as the game’s stated offering rather than as a claim that the review independently demonstrates every feature.

Who might enjoy Car Park Capital?

The premise is likely to appeal to players interested in management systems, city-building and satirical social commentary. Its distinctive angle is not simply expanding a city: it asks players to make a transit-oriented place more car-dependent and to manage the commercial incentives behind that change. Readers looking for a conventional transport-planning simulator may want to note that the player’s role is deliberately pro-car and satirical.
