The Canopy Portable is a small, rechargeable ultrasonic humidifier made for misting the air close to you, such as a desk, a bedside table, or a travel bag. It is not a whole-room humidifier. In RTINGS.com’s 2026 testing, the unit could not raise its test room from 30% to 60% relative humidity within the usual two-hour window. Buy it for close-range humidification, portability, and easy cleaning. If your goal is to humidify a bedroom or office, a higher-capacity model is the better fit.
What the Canopy Portable is designed to do
RTINGS.com describes the Canopy Portable as a compact ultrasonic humidifier for travelers and small spaces. Its review emphasizes misting the area around the user rather than humidifying an entire room. That distinction shapes every other number in this article, so it is worth settling first: if you want the mist to reach a space you occupy but do not sit in, this device is aimed at that job, and it is measured against that job.

Room output: what the numbers mean
A capacity of 0.9 liters per day is small by whole-room standards. The extended test recorded 403 minutes for the move from 30% to 60% relative humidity, which is a useful reference point if you are judging how long a session would take in a similar space. The practical reading is simple: this unit will add moisture to the air near it, but it will not change the humidity of a room in the time most people expect from a humidifier.

Runtime: why 14 hours and 11 hours are both reported
RTINGS.com measured 14 hours of runtime and separately reports an advertised battery runtime of 11 hours. These are different measures, so they should not be treated as conflicting claims. The practical consequence is that if you run the unit on battery, the battery may stop before the water runs out. Keep the tank partly filled in mind when planning a long session away from a power source.
Noise
RTINGS.com measured 33.2 dBA at the highest setting and 31.5 dBA at the lowest. The gap between the two settings is small, so the choice between them is mainly about mist output rather than sound. Both figures are from RTINGS’ test environment, and a quiet room will make any device more noticeable.

Cleaning and the tank
Cleaning is one of the device’s stronger points. According to RTINGS.com, the following parts are dishwasher safe:
- The water tank
- The steel filter
- The main cap
There is a caveat. RTINGS.com reports that the manufacturer instructs users to run the dishwasher without dirty dishes. Treat a dishwasher cycle as a parts-cleaning step with a dedicated load, not a routine you combine with the rest of your kitchen washing. The usable tank holds 0.5 liters.

Does the Canopy Portable Humidifier have a filter?
Yes, but not the paper filter found in Canopy’s other humidifiers. Canopy says the portable model is its first humidifier without its paper filter technology. Instead, it uses a magnetic metal mesh filter at the base, which Canopy says prevents dust and debris from entering the humidifier. This is manufacturer guidance, and RTINGS.com’s review does not independently test the filter’s performance, so judge it by the cleaning routine rather than by any claim about air quality.
Settings, the travel lock, and drying
Canopy’s help article “How do I use my Portable Humidifier?” describes low, medium, and high settings. To engage the travel lock, hold the control for about 10 seconds. Use the lock before you pack the unit so that a button press in a bag does not switch it on.

The unit also runs its fan after you empty it, which Canopy presents as a way to dry the interior. RTINGS.com found water still left in the basin the following morning. Treat the post-emptying fan as a partial aid, and dry the basin yourself before you store the device.

Canopy’s help center also states: “The Canopy Portable Humidifier meets TSA guidelines for air travel, so you can pack it in your carry-on or checked luggage without any issues, making it the ideal travel companion for your journeys.” That is the manufacturer’s guidance, not an independent determination. The same page tells you to empty the device before screening, so follow that step regardless, and confirm current screening rules with your airline and the TSA before you fly.

The comparison supports one clear conclusion: the Carepod One is considerably more capable at humidification. It does not follow that the Carepod One is the better product for you. The Canopy Portable is much smaller and offers a longer measured runtime, which matters if you travel or need a unit that stays out of the way on a desk.

RTINGS.com notes that the Canopy Portable includes an aroma pad. The sources do not establish which fragrances or oils are compatible with it, so use only products that Canopy specifies, and check its instructions before adding anything to the pad.
