The Canon PIXMA TS3720 is a compact wireless printer for occasional home use, not a high-volume workhorse. It prints, copies, and scans; supports common mobile-printing options; and can produce detailed, vibrant-looking photos. Its trade-offs are more consequential as workload grows: printing is single-sided, scanning is flatbed-only, the paper tray is small, and independent testing reports low cartridge yields, high cost per print, and slow speed.
What the Canon PIXMA TS3720 does
The TS3720 is a wireless inkjet all-in-one with print, copy, and scan functions. Canon lists Wi-Fi, USB, Wireless Direct, and Wireless Connect, plus Canon PRINT, Apple AirPrint, Mopria, and Chromebook compatibility. The official TS3700-series online manual includes the TS3720 and covers setup, networking, printing, scanning, cartridges, and maintenance.
For cableless setup, Canon says to install the Canon PRINT app on a smart device that is connected to the wireless network you want the printer to use. That is a setup requirement, not a guarantee of trouble-free operation: Canon notes wireless performance can vary with distance and surroundings.

Documents and everyday printing
Canon lists approximate simplex speeds of 7.7 black and 4.0 color images per minute. Those are manufacturer figures, not a promise of real-world throughput; RTINGS describes the tested printing speed as slow. The rear tray holds up to 60 sheets of plain letter paper, so frequent or large print jobs mean more reloading.

The printer does not automatically print both sides. For a double-sided document, you must handle the pages yourself between passes. That is manageable for an occasional form or short assignment, but inconvenient for routine multipage printing.
Scanning and copying
The scanner is a flatbed with no automatic document feeder, so each page has to be placed on the glass individually. Canon lists optical scan resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi. RTINGS reports that document-scan processing can overexpose colors and lose background and fine details. Its review found that photo scan settings preserve more color and background detail but add paper grain.

Photos and paper choices
Canon lists letter, legal, 4 x 6-inch, 5 x 7-inch, and 5 x 5-inch square formats. Its brochure specifies borderless photo printing up to 5 x 7 inches. The rear tray accommodates up to 20 sheets of 4 x 6-inch photo paper. Canon identifies its glossy, magnetic, and restickable photo papers as supported media; that compatibility information does not establish results with every third-party paper.

Canon specifies plain paper at 64–105 gsm and a maximum of approximately 275 gsm for its PP-301 photo media. These media specifications describe compatibility, not a guarantee of identical results across paper types.

Ink costs and cartridge yields
The TS3720 uses two cartridges: PG-275 pigment black and CL-276 dye color. Canon also lists higher-yield PG-275XL and CL-276XL cartridges, and RTINGS confirms XL compatibility.

These are Canon estimates, based on its stated testing method and a standard test chart; actual yield and cost per print vary with content and other factors. They are not guaranteed household page counts. XL cartridges offer more listed capacity for a higher upfront cartridge purchase, but without current comparable prices there is no basis to claim they save money. RTINGS independently flags very low yields and high cost per print, making ink economics a central concern for frequent printing.

Who should buy the TS3720?
A reasonable fit
- Households that print occasionally and want print, copy, and scan functions in one compact device.
- Students or home users handling short assignments, forms, and everyday documents rather than steady batches.
- People who want to print a few small photos and value wireless or mobile printing support.
Look elsewhere if your workload is heavier
- Frequent printing: low yields and high cost per print can make ongoing ink use an expensive trade-off.
- Regular double-sided jobs: the TS3720 has no automatic duplex printing, so both sides require manual handling.
- Multi-page scanning: the flatbed means placing every sheet individually, and it is limited for longer or double-sided documents.
- Large print batches: slow tested speed and a 60-sheet plain-paper tray add waiting and reloading.
Canon positions the printer for basic home use, while RTINGS considers it acceptable for family use and a poor choice for a small office. The practical dividing line is workload: it is best treated as a light-duty convenience printer, not a shared office or high-volume machine.

- Current price: Compare the printer’s current offer with the cost of replacement PG-275 and CL-276 cartridges. Canon Canada’s $109.99 estimated launch retail price was stated in July 2024 and is historical, not a current price reference.
- Expected print volume: Use Canon’s yields as estimates, not guaranteed page counts, and consider RTINGS’ warning about cost per print.
- Network and device compatibility: Check that your phone, computer, or Chromebook and home network fit the connection method you plan to use. Wireless performance can vary with distance and surroundings.
- Paper and photo needs: Confirm that your intended size and media are among Canon’s supported options; supported formats alone do not promise a particular result on non-Canon paper.
Canon’s TS3720 brochure and product material provide the listed technical details. Canon Canada’s July 22, 2024 launch announcement described it as suitable for everyday home use; that is the manufacturer’s positioning, rather than an independent performance assessment.
