The Canon PIXMA TR7660a is a home-office inkjet all-in-one with print, copy, scan and fax, plus Wi-Fi, a 20-page automatic document feeder and automatic two-sided printing. Its feature set suits households and home offices that print modest volumes and occasionally handle multi-page documents. Whether it is worth buying depends on the current Australian street price and the cost of its replacement cartridges: Canon’s specifications alone do not establish a cost per page.
What the Canon PIXMA TR7660a offers
Canon Australia lists the TR7660a as a four-function printer: it prints, copies, scans and faxes. It connects by Wi-Fi or USB-B, and Canon describes mobile printing and setup through its Canon PRINT app. Check the Canon Australia support page for current operating-system, driver and app requirements, which can change.
For print resolution, Canon lists up to 4800 × 1200 dpi. That is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement of the printer’s output quality.

How well does it handle documents?
ADF for modest multi-page jobs
The 20-page automatic document feeder can feed pages one at a time for scanning or copying, so you do not need to place every sheet individually on the glass. Canon does not specify duplex scanning here; do not assume the ADF scans both sides of a sheet automatically. If two-sided scanning is essential, confirm the supported workflow before buying.

Automatic two-sided printing and paper capacity
The printer supports automatic duplex printing. Canon Australia lists a capacity of up to 100 sheets of plain paper in the front cassette and up to 100 in the rear tray. The two-source feed can be useful when you want to keep different paper types or sizes ready, subject to the media supported by the printer.
Rated document speed
Canon gives approximate speeds of 15.0 images per minute (ipm) in black and 10.0 ipm in colour. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results. Canon notes that actual speed varies with factors such as the system, interface, document, print mode, coverage and paper.

What ink does the TR7660a use?
Canon Australia lists the PGI-680 family for black and CLI-681 for colour, with standard and higher-capacity variants available for some cartridges or bundles. Check the precise cartridge code, capacity and Australian regional compatibility before ordering. Canon’s product page also says a complete ink set, with ink in each cartridge, is required for all functions, including copying, printing, scanning and faxing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCanon’s PGI-680 cartridge information describes that black-cartridge family; the Australian TR7660a product listing identifies the model’s listed ink families. Cartridge prices alone are not enough to calculate a reliable cost per page: a useful comparison also needs a matching published page yield and a consistent print-coverage basis. No verified, model-specific cost-per-page figure is established here. If you print frequently, compare verified replacement-ink costs and your expected volume with tank and laser printers before choosing.

Is the Canon PIXMA TR7660a worth buying?
It is a plausible fit if you want an inkjet for modest home or home-office volumes, need colour, and value an ADF for occasional batches of pages alongside copying, scanning and faxing. Automatic duplex printing and two paper feeds add practical flexibility.
It is a less certain choice for heavy printing or for anyone whose decision depends on low running costs, fast output or dependable high-volume ADF use. The specifications do not settle those questions, and no independent lab review of this exact model was established in the sources reviewed. Before buying, check current retailer pricing and replacement-ink costs against your likely monthly volume. For comparisons with other printers, use the same-date street price, verified yield-based ink cost, ADF capacity and scanning needs, duplex features, media support, operating-system compatibility, warranty and local service terms.

Price, warranty and ownership checks
Canon Australia lists a $199 RRP on its product page, but that is manufacturer price guidance rather than a live retailer quote; retailers set their own prices. The same page advertises a two-year warranty for Australian products. Confirm that your purchase is eligible and read the applicable terms and exclusions.

What do owner reviews say?
When accessed in 2026, ProductReview.com.au showed four reviews and an aggregate score of 1.9. Visible submissions include complaints about slow printing and ADF or reliability problems; one reviewer later reported that a software update improved speed.
