The Canon PIXMA MG3620 is a wireless inkjet all-in-one for home printing, copying, and scanning. It adds automatic two-sided printing and mobile-printing support, but uses separate black and color cartridges, so ongoing ink costs deserve attention. Canon’s published speeds and photo times are specifications—not independent test results—and real-world print quality, reliability, and current pricing are not established here.
What the Canon PIXMA MG3620 does
Canon lists the MG3620 as a print, copy, and scan device with wireless printing, Canon PRINT app support, Apple AirPrint, and Mopria Print Service. It also supports automatic duplex printing, which can print on both sides of a sheet without manually turning pages. Canon lists quiet mode and borderless photo printing among its features. See Canon’s MG3620 support and specifications page for current manuals and compatibility information.
That combination suits a household that needs ordinary documents, occasional photos, and a flatbed scanner in one machine. It is not a document-feeder setup: Canon specifies a flatbed CIS scanner and does not list an automatic document feeder, so scanning a multi-page stack means placing pages on the glass one at a time.
How fast and capable is it on paper?
Canon rates the printer at approximately 9.9 images per minute (ipm) for black and 5.7 ipm for color under its stated specification method. Canon also gives an approximate 44-second time for a 4×6-inch borderless photo and an approximate 22-second first-copy-out time for color. These are manufacturer figures, not independently measured results; actual time depends on the document, settings, connection, and media. Canon’s MG3620 specification sheet lists maximum print resolution up to 4800 × 1200 dpi for color and up to 600 × 600 dpi for pigment black.

Canon lists a 100-sheet plain-paper capacity, or 20 sheets of 4×6-inch photo paper. Supported sizes include 4×6, 5×7, Letter, Legal, and U.S. #10 envelopes; the detailed specification sheet also lists 8×10. Supported media include plain paper and specified Canon photo-paper families, including glossy, semi-gloss, luster, and matte options. The scanner’s listed optical resolution is 1200 × 2400 dpi, and its maximum document size is 8.5 × 11.7 inches.
What ink does the MG3620 use, and what can yields tell you?
For the U.S. model, Canon lists PG-240 pigment-black cartridges in standard, XL, and XXL capacities, plus CL-241 color cartridges in standard and XL capacities. Canon also lists a combo pack. Check the label on your printer and confirm regional compatibility before buying: cartridge names and availability can differ by market. Canon support responses say both black and color cartridges need to be installed for the printer to operate.
Canon’s published yield figures illustrate how much cartridge size and print type matter. Its estimates for mixed text and graphics on plain paper are shown below; they are Canon U.S.A. figures from a yield document whose publication date is not stated.
| Cartridge | Canon estimate: mixed text and graphics on plain paper | Canon estimate: 4×6 color photos |
|---|---|---|
| PG-240XXL | 600 pages | 7,560 photos |
| PG-240XL | 300 pages | 3,815 photos |
| PG-240 | 180 pages | 2,465 photos |
| CL-241XL | not stated for plain-paper text/graphics by Canon’s cited yield document | 150 photos |
| CL-241 | not stated for plain-paper text/graphics by Canon’s cited yield document | 69 photos |
The photo estimates are cartridge-specific counts under Canon’s stated conditions using Photo Paper Plus Glossy II; they are not ordinary-page equivalents or a household forecast. Canon says initial cartridges produce fewer pages because some ink is used to prime the print-head nozzles. Its subsequent yield estimates depend on coverage, content, software, print mode, paper, and cartridge capacity. Read the conditions in Canon’s MG3620 page-yield methodology before using the figures to estimate your own spending.

Because current cartridge prices were not verified, there is no defensible current cost-per-page figure here. If you print often, compare the price of the compatible PG-240 and CL-241 sizes with the volume and mix of documents or photos you expect to print; larger-capacity versions have higher published yields, but their value depends on their current prices and your usage.
How do you connect the MG3620 to Wi-Fi?
Canon provides MG3600-series setup and user manuals from the MG3620 support page. Use the current manual and Canon’s operating-system selector for exact installation instructions: driver and app steps can vary by computer, phone, and software version.

Canon Community support responses report that the MG3620 requires a 2.4 GHz wireless broadcast. Treat that as troubleshooting guidance rather than a guarantee for every router configuration: check your router’s band and SSID settings and the current manual if setup fails. A support discussion is available in Canon’s wireless connection thread.

It is a plausible fit if you want a home all-in-one with wireless and mobile printing, automatic duplexing, borderless photo capability, and a flatbed scanner, and you do not need an automatic document feeder. Its two-cartridge arrangement is straightforward, but continuing ink purchases are part of ownership and the best cartridge value cannot be determined without current prices and your print mix.

Canon’s specifications establish the feature set and rated performance, not how sharp text looks in practice, how faithfully photos reproduce color, how noisy or reliable an individual unit is, or what speed you will see at home. Those points require comparable hands-on testing. New or used availability and street price are also time-sensitive and were not established; check current listings before deciding whether this model is a better buy than another printer.
