The Canon PIXMA G4670 MegaTank is a four-function ink-tank printer: it prints, copies, scans and faxes. Canon’s published specifications include a 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), a 100-sheet rear paper tray, Wi-Fi and GI-61 refill bottles. Those features make it worth considering for a home or small office that needs faxing and wants refillable ink; they do not establish real-world print quality, speed, reliability or ease of use. The assessment below is based on Canon’s published specifications, not independent hands-on testing.
What the Canon PIXMA G4670 does
Canon Australia lists four functions: print, copy, scan and fax. The ADF can feed up to 35 sheets for multi-page jobs, while the rear tray holds up to 100 sheets of plain paper. That combination is useful for routine document work, but the ADF’s capacity is modest for frequent large batches.
Canon positions the model for home or office use. Its New Zealand range announcement describes the G4670 series as part of a MegaTank line aimed at families seeking savings on home printing. These are Canon’s intended-use claims, not independent findings about performance or total ownership cost.

These are specifications published by Canon Australia, not results from timed or quality tests. The listed speeds describe document printing; they should not be treated as a promise of the speed you will see on every job. The maximum resolution likewise does not, by itself, establish how sharp text or attractive photos look in practice. Canon’s G4670 product page has the current specification details.

Paper and photo use
Canon lists common document sizes including A4, A5, A6, B5, Letter and Legal, as well as photo and other media sizes. Named photo-paper options include Photo Paper Plus Glossy II, Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss, Photo Paper Glossy and Matte Photo Paper. This establishes support for document printing and occasional photo-paper jobs, not comparative photo quality or suitability for professional photo output.
What ink the G4670 uses—and what the yield figures mean
The compatible bottle family listed for the G4670 in Australia is GI-61: GI-61BK black, GI-61C cyan, GI-61M magenta and GI-61Y yellow. Canon estimates up to 6,000 black pages and up to 7,700 colour pages for replacement bottles. These are separate estimates for black and colour, not a combined total.

Canon says the estimates use its stated method and the ISO/IEC 24712 colour chart, with replacement bottles after initial setup. The bottles supplied for initial setup yield less because ink is used to fill the print head. Canon also warns that yield varies significantly with printed content and other factors, so these figures are not guaranteed page counts for an individual household. Australian prices listed by Canon
At the time the Canon Australia product page was accessed in 2026, it listed an Australian recommended retail price of A$459 for the printer and A$25 for GI-61BK, with each colour bottle listed at A$20. These are regional manufacturer RRPs, not guaranteed current retailer prices or prices for other countries. Canon sells the product through retailers, so check local availability and current pricing before buying. A bottle’s low purchase price alone does not determine your running cost: your actual yield depends on what and how much you print.

Setup, compatibility and support
Canon Australia’s support page provides setup instructions, manuals, drivers, software and firmware listings. Choose the G4670 and your operating system there, then check the page for the latest applicable download rather than relying on an old version number. Canon Australia support is the starting point for those resources.
Canon’s G4670 product page includes a maintenance-cartridge passage that refers to the PIXMA G3670. That wording does not establish that the same cartridge is compatible with the G4670. Confirm the exact model’s manual or ask Canon support before purchasing a maintenance part.

Is the Canon PIXMA G4670 worth buying?
It is a plausible fit if you need faxing alongside print, copy and scan, value a built-in ADF for multi-page documents, and can buy GI-61 bottles in your market at a price that suits your printing volume. Its 35-sheet feeder and 100-sheet tray are better considered for ordinary home or small-office workloads than for high-volume document handling.
