The Canon PIXMA G3690 is a refillable-ink home all-in-one with print, copy and scan functions, automatic two-sided printing, Wi-Fi and a color touchscreen. Canon’s listed specifications make it a plausible fit for home users who print regularly and want tank-based ink, but they do not establish real-world print quality, speed, reliability or running cost. Its headline ink yields are manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed page counts.
What the Canon PIXMA G3690 offers
Canon New Zealand describes the PIXMA G3690 MegaTank as a home 3-in-1 printer. It combines printing, copying and scanning with automatic duplex printing, a 2.7-inch color touch LCD, Wi-Fi and USB-B. Canon also lists Apple AirPrint and Mopria support for mobile printing. These are advertised capabilities; the listing does not independently verify how well they work in everyday use. Canon advertises yields of up to 6,000 black pages and 7,700 color pages. These are separate figures and should not be added together as a combined yield. Canon estimates them using the ISO/IEC 24712 color chart and continuous-printing simulation with replacement bottles after initial setup. The initial bottles yield less because some ink is used to fill the print head, and Canon cautions that yield varies significantly with printed content and other factors. Canon’s yield explanation

The G3690 uses GI-61 bottles: GI-61BK black, GI-61C cyan, GI-61M magenta and GI-61Y yellow. Check the exact regional SKU and local bottle price before estimating cost per page; the advertised page yields alone do not establish your actual ink cost.
Paper and media support
Canon lists support for plain paper and a range of sizes and media, including A4, A5, A6 and B5; 4 × 6-inch and 5 × 7-inch photo paper; square and card sizes; envelopes; and custom lengths up to 1200 mm. Larger paper sizes listed on Canon’s New Zealand page include regional formats. Setup, maintenance and ownership considerations
Canon’s G3090-series online manual explicitly covers the G3690 and provides instructions for setup, Wi-Fi connection, supported media, printing, scanning, refilling ink, cleaning and replacing the maintenance cartridge. This confirms that these procedures are documented, but it does not specify how often maintenance will be needed, how long a cartridge lasts or how difficult the steps are.

Is the Canon PIXMA G3690 worth buying?
The G3690 is worth considering if you want a home printer with print, copy and scan functions, automatic duplex, wireless and mobile printing, and refillable ink bottles. Its 100-sheet plain-paper capacity and stated document speeds are useful planning details, but do not establish its performance for your particular workload.
Canon’s specifications cannot answer whether its text, graphics or photos look good to you, how fast it feels in normal use, how noisy it is, or how reliably it operates over time. No independent test results are established here for those questions. Before choosing it, compare local purchase price and warranty with alternatives in the same market, and use current local GI-61 bottle prices and a consistent page-yield basis to assess running cost. For photo-heavy or demanding office use, seek independent sample output and testing before deciding.
