The Canon PIXMA G3270 MegaTank is a refillable-ink (tank) all-in-one for home and home-office users who print documents regularly and make occasional family photos. It is not a cartridge printer, and it is not built for hands-off office volume. On October 8, 2026, TechRadar reported it at $144 on Amazon, against a displayed price of $248.99. That price is time-sensitive, so check it on the day you buy.
The $144 price, with its date and context
TechRadar’s Bryan M. Wolfe reported on October 8, 2026 that the printer had dropped to $144 at Amazon, a reported 42% discount from the displayed $248.99. TechRadar describes the G3270 as its top budget cartridge-free printer, and it says the printer previously reached $130 in October 2024. That makes $144 a substantial discount, but not the lowest price TechRadar has recorded. Read the original TechRadar report for the date and wording.
Because the price is a single reported figure from one date, verify it before you buy:
- Open the Amazon listing and confirm that the model is the PIXMA G3270 Wireless MegaTank All-in-One.
- Compare the price shown at checkout with the reported $144, since prices and stock change without notice.
- Check the seller, the return window, and whether the warranty is included with the order.
What the printer is
Canon’s product name is the PIXMA G3270 Wireless MegaTank All-in-One Printer. It prints, copies, and scans, and it connects over dual-band Wi-Fi, USB, and mobile-device printing. The table below uses Canon’s brochure unless another source is named.

The main reason to buy a tank printer is the per-page cost of ink, and this is where Canon’s numbers need careful reading.

Canon’s yield estimate
Canon’s brochure says a full replacement bottle set yields up to 6,000 black-and-white pages and 7,700 color pages in default mode. Canon says the estimate uses its test method, based on the ISO/IEC 24712 chart and a continuous-printing simulation. These are manufacturer estimates, not independent laboratory results, and Canon states that actual yield depends on what you print and on ink used for maintenance. The brochure is undated, so treat the figures as the current manufacturer statement rather than a dated test.

The starter ink set
The ink included in the box yields less than replacement bottles. Canon’s brochure explains that setup consumes ink to charge the print head, so the first set does not reach the full estimate.

Estimating your own cost per page
Divide the price of a GI-21 bottle by the yield for that color, then add a margin for real-world use. The sources reviewed here do not give current GI-21 bottle prices, so check Canon’s or your retailer’s listing for those figures. Use Canon’s numbers as a best-case ceiling, not a promise.
Limitations that affect buying decisions
Speed, duplex, and document feeding
RTINGS identifies three constraints. The printer has no automatic duplex printing, so double-sided output requires you to turn each page by hand. It has no automatic document feeder (ADF), so multi-page scanning is slower. Output speed is also slow. The rated figures above are approximate, and RTINGS’ test results show the practical effect of these limits on large jobs.

Clogging when the printer sits idle
Inkjet printheads can clog when a printer goes unused for long periods, and RTINGS warns that this applies to the G3270. Regular printing, even a few pages a week, is the simplest prevention. RTINGS also notes that the printhead is user-replaceable, which is the recovery option if a clog does not clear.

The G3270 handles fine detail in documents well, according to RTINGS. Its color gamut and color accuracy are limited, and RTINGS says it is not suitable for professional photo work. TechRadar’s reviewer found that photos printed on coated paper looked flatter than output from dedicated photo printers. For family photos and casual prints, that trade-off is usually acceptable. For color-critical work, it is not.

Parts and maintenance: what Canon says
Canon’s February 8, 2023 announcement states: “Users can easily replace the maintenance cartridge and the print head (replacements sold separately) to assist with printer longevity.” That confirms the parts are user-replaceable and sold separately. It does not give a service life, so the sentence should not be read as a promise about how long the printer will last. Check Canon’s support pages for current part numbers and availability before you buy a replacement.
How it compares with the Epson EcoTank ET-2800 and ET-2803
RTINGS compares the G3270 with the Epson EcoTank ET-2800 and ET-2803. Its comparison favors the Canon on page yield and connectivity, and favors the Epson on color gamut, color accuracy, and scan quality. The table uses only the values stated in that comparison. Where the sources do not give a value, the table says so.

For the Epson, the sources reviewed give no current price, so a price comparison is not possible from them. Verify both models’ live prices, ink costs, and yields on the day you compare them.

Who should buy it
- Good fit: home or home-office users who print text documents regularly, want fewer ink replacements than a cartridge printer, and need wireless or USB connectivity.
- Good fit with caveats: households that also print family photos, if they accept flatter color on coated paper.
- Poor fit: anyone who needs automatic double-sided printing or a document feeder, prints high volumes, prints professional-quality photos, or expects to leave the printer idle for weeks.
At $144, the G3270 is a reasonable budget tank printer for a user who prints regularly and does not need office automation. At the displayed $248.99, the value case is weaker, and a comparison with the Epson EcoTank models is worth making first.
If this matches your use, the first step is to confirm the live Amazon price and the GI-21 ink costs. Then decide whether the printer’s manual duplex and slower scanning are acceptable for your documents.
