The Canon MAXIFY GX6160 is a print, copy and scan MegaTank multifunction printer aimed at small-office use. Canon Australia lists a 50-sheet automatic document feeder, 350-sheet plain-paper capacity, duplex printing and rated speeds of up to 24 images per minute in black and 15.5 in colour. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independently tested results, so they describe the advertised capabilities rather than guaranteed day-to-day performance.
What the Canon MAXIFY GX6160 does
Canon Australia describes the GX6160 as a compact-footprint printer for print, scan and copy tasks. Its feature set is oriented toward routine office documents: it has automatic duplex printing, a 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) for multi-page originals, and a 2.7-inch monochrome LCD. The feature list makes it a plausible fit for a small office that needs copying and scanning as well as printing, handles multi-page documents, and values larger paper and ink capacity. Whether it suits a particular workload depends on print volume, the balance of colour and black-and-white jobs, and current local pricing. The available specifications do not establish independent print-quality, reliability, or real-workflow results.
Paper handling and connectivity
Canon lists capacity for 350 sheets of plain paper: 250 sheets in the cassette and 100 in the rear tray. The split gives users a way to keep different paper types or sizes ready, though actual capacity can vary with the selected media. The ADF holds 50 sheets for scanning or copying multi-page documents.

Supported media include standard office sizes, envelopes, photo sizes and custom-length media up to 1,200 mm. Maximum print width is listed as 206 mm. Check the specifications for the specific paper size and feed method before relying on an unusual or long format.
Connection options listed by Canon are Wi-Fi, USB-B, wired LAN and a direct wireless connection. The printer also supports USB flash media. This offers both network and direct-connection choices; the right setup depends on how the office shares printers and handles scanned files. Rated speed and print resolution
Canon specifies maximum resolution of 600 × 1,200 dpi and document print speeds of up to 24 images per minute (ipm) for black and 15.5 ipm for colour. These are the manufacturer’s rated figures. Canon notes that actual throughput varies with document and conditions; no independent timing is established here. Treat the figures as a specification for comparison, not a promise that every job will finish at that pace.

GX6160 ink, yield and operating costs
For the Australian model listing, Canon specifies GI-66BK black and GI-66C, GI-66M and GI-66Y colour ink bottles. Canon states yields of up to 6,000 black pages and 14,000 colour pages per replacement ink set. In Economy Mode, its stated maximums rise to up to 9,000 black pages and 21,000 colour pages.

These are estimated yields based on Canon’s test method, not guaranteed page counts. Canon says the initial setup bottles yield less because some ink is used to fill the print head, and that results vary significantly with content and other factors. Black and colour yields are separate figures, not quantities to add together. A cost-per-page estimate also requires current local bottle prices and a realistic assumption about the mix and coverage of documents you print; the yield figures alone do not establish running costs.
Ink codes and bottle availability can differ by market. Buyers outside Australia should confirm compatible bottles on their local Canon listing rather than assuming the Australian GI-66 specification applies everywhere. Price and warranty: Australian terms
Canon Australia lists an RRP of A$849 and a two-year warranty for the GX6160. The RRP is a manufacturer-listed Australian price, not a verified current retailer price or availability statement. Canon says a unit found defective within the applicable manufacturer warranty period will be replaced with the same or an equivalent model, subject to terms and exclusions. Both price and warranty are region-specific; check a local Canon page and warranty terms before buying elsewhere.

If you are checking a maintenance cartridge or another service part, do not assume compatibility or user-replaceability from the product listing alone.
