The Canon MAXIFY GX5060 is a print-only MegaTank inkjet for small businesses and home offices that print regularly. It does not scan, copy or fax. Canon describes it as a “Compact Single Function Printer,” and its refillable ink tanks, automatic two-sided printing and 350-sheet paper capacity point it at steady document printing rather than mixed office work.
This assessment is built from Canon’s published specifications and support material, not hands-on testing. Canon’s speed, page-yield and paper figures are manufacturer claims, and no independent print-quality, speed, noise, reliability or running-cost testing is reported here. Current street prices and retailer stock were not confirmed, so the value question is answered in terms of what you would need to check, not with a verdict on price.
Does the GX5060 scan or copy?
No. Canon classifies the GX5060 as a single-function printer. If you need to scan paperwork, copy documents or send faxes from the same device, this model will not cover those tasks, and you should look at an all-in-one machine instead. Because no alternative models were compared here, this article does not name a better-value option.

- A small office or home office that prints a steady volume of pages and wants refillable ink tanks rather than cartridges.
- Users who print double-sided most of the time and want the printer to handle that without manual intervention.
- Households or teams that need a larger paper tray than a typical desktop inkjet offers.
It is a weaker fit for buyers who need scanning or copying, who print very small, infrequent jobs (see the yield caveats below), or who need specialty media beyond the sizes Canon documents.

Speed and page yield
Canon’s rated speed and yield figures are the strongest part of its product documentation, but they are manufacturer claims produced under Canon’s test conditions. Treat them as a basis for comparison, not as expected results for your own printing.

Rated speed
Canon rates the GX5060 at approximately 24 ipm for black and 15.5 ipm for colour. These are document speeds stated by Canon. No independent measurement of first-page time or sustained output is available from the sources used for this article, so real-world speed under your workload is unknown.

Rated yield per ink set
Canon states yields for each ink set in A4 pages. Its method for the standard figures is ISO/IEC 24711 test printing under controlled conditions, and Canon says actual yields vary by use.

Both columns carry the same qualification: they are Canon’s figures under its stated conditions, and Economy Mode trades output quality for yield in the way Canon describes it.
Why your yield may be lower
- The first ink set. Canon says the initial set consumes ink to fill the print-head nozzles, so the first set yields fewer pages than later ones.
- Short print jobs. Canon says smaller jobs can reduce yield compared with continuous printing, because each job involves more start-up and cleaning overhead.
- Actual use. Canon’s own caveat is that yield varies with how the printer is used.
Paper handling
The GX5060 holds up to 350 sheets and prints on both sides automatically. Canon’s sheet also lists supported business media, including envelopes and banners up to 1.2 m. Those are documented capacities. Before buying for envelopes, banners or specialty stock, check the paper types and sizes in the regional manual for your country, because support for specific media depends on your market.
Running costs
Ink is the main ongoing cost, and the GX5060 uses four GI-66 pigment bottles (GI-66BK, GI-66C, GI-66M and GI-66Y). Canon’s yield figures are per ink set, so the cost calculation has to use bottle prices in your market, not a figure from this article. This article does not state current bottle or printer prices because they were not confirmed.

How to estimate cost per page
- Find the current local price of the ink set you would replace, including every colour you use.
- Divide that price by Canon’s rated page count for the same output type. For example, a black-and-white workload should be compared against the black-and-white figure, and a colour workload against the colour figure.
- Compare the result with a realistic monthly page count, allowing for the first-set and short-job effects described above.
- Repeat the calculation for Economy Mode if you can accept its output trade-off.
Because Canon’s yield is a rated figure, the result is a planning estimate, not a guaranteed cost.

Canon Australia lists the MC-G01 maintenance cartridge as the user-replaceable replacement for the MC-G03 and confirms it is compatible with the GX5060. You do not need to replace it at purchase, and the sources used here do not establish its service life. Budget for it as a maintenance item once the printer shows the need, and check Canon’s support material for the replacement procedure.

Setup, connectivity and support
The GX5060 supports USB, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, so you can connect it to a single computer or share it on a network. Canon Australia’s support page for the GX5000 series links setup and connection instructions, an online manual, a list of compatible ink, specifications, troubleshooting, and software and driver downloads.
- Check your operating-system version before downloading drivers, because Canon’s downloads vary by platform and date.
- Use the regional manual for your country when checking paper, media and warranty details.
- Confirm local warranty and service availability with the seller or Canon in your market; this article does not establish warranty terms.
Verdict
On Canon’s documentation, the GX5060 is a sensible print-only choice for a small office or home office that prints steadily and wants refillable tanks, automatic duplex printing and a large paper tray. Its rated yields are the most distinctive part of the specification, but they should be treated as manufacturer claims. Whether it is worth buying depends on the price you find locally and on how often you print, and this review does not establish either. If you need scanning or copying, or you print very small jobs and expect yields close to Canon’s figures, look elsewhere.
