The Canon MAXIFY GX4060 MegaTank is an Australia-market, four-function ink-tank printer for small businesses: it prints, copies, scans and faxes. Canon lists a 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), Wi-Fi and wired LAN, and 350 sheets of combined plain-paper capacity. Its refillable GI-66 bottles have high stated page yields, but those are estimates—not a promise of your actual output or cost. Canon’s documentation establishes the specifications; it does not establish independent print-quality results, real-world reliability or measured running costs.
What is the Canon MAXIFY GX4060?
Canon Australia describes the GX4060 MegaTank as a “4-in-1 Small Business printer.” Its functions are print, copy, scan and fax. The specifications and availability discussed here are for Canon Australia’s model and support pages; they should not be assumed to describe every regional variant or current retailer offer. Canon Australia’s GX4060 product page is the reference for its current listed specifications.
Canon specifies print resolution of 600 × 1200 dpi and document print speeds of 18 ipm in black and 13 ipm in color. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of speed or output quality in a particular office. Canon’s launch announcement also lists a 2.7-inch color touchscreen.

Paper handling, ADF and connectivity
Paper capacity and feed arrangement
The printer has a 250-sheet cassette and a 100-sheet rear tray, for 350 sheets of combined plain-paper capacity according to Canon. The rear tray supports rigid media up to 0.7 mm thick, including posterboard. For a particular paper size or stock, check Canon’s current specifications and the tray requirements rather than assuming every media type can use either feed.

Automatic document feeder
Canon specifies a 35-sheet ADF. This is useful for feeding a stack of originals for scanning, copying or faxing; the cited specification does not establish duplex scanning or automatic two-sided handling. Check the manual for the exact workflow you need before relying on it for double-sided originals.
Network and mobile printing
Canon lists Wi-Fi, wired LAN and USB-B connectivity, along with support for the Canon PRINT app, Apple AirPrint and Mopria. A USB cable is not included. Canon notes that ink must be present in every tank for all functions and that some functions may require an internet connection.

How much ink does the GX4060 use, and what is the page yield?
The GX4060 uses Canon GI-66 bottles. Canon Australia estimates that a replacement-bottle set can print up to 6,000 black pages and up to 14,000 color pages under its stated test basis: the ISO/IEC 24712 color chart and continuous-printing simulation, using replacement bottles after initial setup. The figures are separate black and color estimates, not totals to add together.

Canon also lists Economy mode estimates of up to 9,000 black pages and up to 21,000 color pages. These are likewise estimates, not guaranteed results for a particular mix of documents. Yield can vary significantly with print content and other factors. The initial bottles produce fewer pages than later replacement bottles because some ink is used to fill the print head during setup.

Compatible bottles are GI-66BK black and GI-66C, GI-66M and GI-66Y color. Canon lists up to 6,000 pages for GI-66 black and up to 14,000 pages for each color bottle, subject to the yield qualifications above. A cost-per-page figure cannot be inferred from yield alone: it also requires current local bottle prices and a clear workload and color-use assumption.
Can you replace the maintenance cartridge yourself?
Yes. Canon identifies the MC-G03 maintenance cartridge as compatible with the GX4060 and says it is designed for user replacement. Canon also describes the print head as user-replaceable and the paper roller as cleanable. These are maintenance options, not evidence that a particular component is likely to fail; follow the manual’s instructions and the printer’s on-screen prompts when service is needed.

Software, drivers and support
Canon Australia’s support page provides manuals, setup guidance, drivers, firmware, software and troubleshooting resources. The support listing represented by Canon’s 2026 entries included a GX4000 series Windows MP Driver Ver. 1.03 dated July 27, 2026, and Linux ScanGear MP Ver. 4.91 entries dated September 29, 2026. Driver availability depends on operating system and can change; verify the current listing for your computer before installing.

The GX4060 is a plausible fit if your office needs print, copy, scan and fax in one device, wants an ADF and refillable ink, and can use its cassette-plus-rear-tray paper setup. Its stated yields may help frame supply planning, but they do not establish what the printer will cost to run for your documents.

Whether it is worth buying depends on the current Australian price you can actually get and your workload. Before choosing it, compare:
- Upfront price in your market and the features included at that price.
- Your monthly page volume and proportion of black-only versus color printing.
- Current local prices for GI-66 bottles, using Canon’s yield basis as an estimate rather than a guarantee.
- Whether a 35-sheet ADF and the stated paper capacity suit your document workflow.
- Whether you need a specific ADF duplex capability, which the cited specification does not establish.
- Your preferred connections, including wired LAN, Wi-Fi, USB-B and mobile printing.
- Independent evidence on print quality, reliability and representative running costs, if those are decisive for your purchase.
Canon’s Australian product page lists a regional RRP, but an RRP is not a live street price and should not be treated as a current deal or a price for other countries. The available specifications alone do not establish a comparative winner against another printer.
