Yes—the Canon EOS 750D, sold in the United States as the EOS Rebel T6i, can still be a capable starter DSLR if you find one in good condition at a sensible used price. Its 24.2MP APS-C sensor, fully articulating touchscreen, Wi-Fi and compatibility with Canon EF and EF-S lenses make it useful for learning still photography. Its age is apparent in its Full HD video and DSLR design, so it is best considered an affordable stills-first option rather than a current all-purpose camera.
What the Canon 750D offers a beginner
Canon introduced a well-rounded feature set in the 750D: a 24.2MP APS-C sensor, a fully articulating touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Full HD video and an external microphone input. Digital Camera World notes that 24.2MP was a step above the 18MP entry-level norm it describes for the camera’s 2015 launch period; that is a historical comparison, not a benchmark against cameras available today. The camera also uses Hybrid CMOS AF III phase-detection autofocus, as described in Digital Camera World’s review.
For a beginner, the articulated screen is useful when framing shots from high or low angles, and touch controls make it easier to interact with the camera. Wi-Fi provides a way to connect, while the microphone jack is useful for recording sound with an external microphone. These features do not change the key trade-off: video recording is Full HD, not a newer high-resolution format.
Is it still worth buying?
It can be, if the price and condition are right and your priority is learning still photography. The 750D gives you interchangeable lenses and room to explore different focal lengths and subjects. But it is an older DSLR, and the available evidence does not establish that its autofocus or video performance matches newer cameras. Consider a more recent body if those capabilities are central to what you shoot.

Use reported used prices as examples, not quotes
Digital Camera World’s October 1, 2026 article reported example used prices of $341 at KEH and £239 at MPB. These are seller examples in different currencies and markets, not a like-for-like condition comparison or a live market survey. Check the actual listing for current availability, condition, included lens and accessories, and return terms before deciding.
The same article cited the newer Canon EOS R50 at around $629 / £729 in its context. That is a source-reported example, not a current quote or a controlled comparison. The R50 and 750D suit different priorities, so compare the actual total cost and features you need rather than treating the cited figures as a direct verdict.

Check the camera before paying
- Read the listing’s condition description and ask about any defects or missing accessories.
- Check the shutter count if the seller supplies one; it is one factor in assessing a used body, not a guarantee of its condition.
- Confirm whether a lens is included and whether it suits the subjects you plan to photograph.
- Review the seller’s return policy and compare the local price for a similar-condition kit.
- Check the battery model and condition. Canon specifies the LP-E17 for the T6i / 750D.
Which lenses fit the EOS 750D?
Canon lists EF lenses, including EF-S lenses, as compatible with the camera. EF-S lenses are designed for compatible APS-C bodies such as the 750D. Canon’s EF-S lens guide explains the system. Do not assume RF or EF-M lenses are native-compatible DSLR lenses for this body.

If a used body is sold without a lens, include the cost of a compatible EF or EF-S lens in your total. For compatibility details and support resources, see Canon’s EOS Rebel T6i support page. Who should choose it?
- Consider it if you want an affordable interchangeable-lens camera for stills, value an articulated touchscreen, and find a well-described used kit at a fair local price.
- Look elsewhere if you need newer video capabilities or want a current mirrorless body. Compare autofocus and video needs, screen and viewfinder preferences, lens-system costs, and connectivity before choosing.
