The Canon Color imageCLASS MF665Cdw is a color laser all-in-one for people who need dependable-looking office documents, scanning, copying, and faxing—not a printer for photo enthusiasts. Canon specifies a 26-page-per-minute maximum on Letter paper, duplex scanning through its 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), and Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, and USB. RTINGS reports strong document-printing and scanning performance, while finding its photo output limited.
Is the Canon MF665Cdw worth considering?
It is worth considering if your regular work is forms, reports, correspondence, and other documents, and you need an all-in-one with fax and two-sided ADF scanning. Canon lists a recommended monthly print volume of 150–2,500 pages. RTINGS describes the printer as primarily designed for small businesses with high printing needs, while noting that it can suit home use if photo printing is not a priority and there is room for its substantial chassis.
There is no current printer price or verified head-to-head pricing here, so a value verdict depends on the price you find and the cost of replacement toner. Compare those with your expected workload and the features you actually need before buying.
What does it do well, and where does it fall short?
RTINGS reviewed the MF665Cdw on November 5, 2025, lists a test-bench update of September 25, 2026, and identifies its methodology as v1.4.1. Its review reports sharp document prints, very good scan detail, broad connectivity, and long toner life. RTINGS also reports a limited color gamut and weak reproduction of fine detail in photos. These are RTINGS findings, not independent results from this article.

- Color, Wireless, Duplex 4-in-1: Print, scan, copy, fax.
- Fast Print Speeds: Print up to 26 ppm in both color and monochrome and spend less time waiting with a quick first print time of approximately 10.3 seconds.
- Easy Wireless Setup: Setup your wireless connection and get up and running in just a few steps.
- 5-inch Color Touchscreen: Get the job done quickly with Application Library - an intuitive and easy to use customizable access to the features you use most.
- Mobile Device Printing: Print from your compatible mobile devices using the free Canon PRINT app, Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service.
That split makes the intended use important: text-heavy office output and scanning are a better fit than photographs where subtle colors or fine image detail matter. A color laser printer can produce color documents without being a strong photo printer.
What features and capacity does Canon specify?
| Feature | Canon specification |
|---|---|
| Functions | Print, scan, copy, and fax |
| Maximum print speed | Up to 26 pages per minute on Letter paper |
| Recommended monthly print volume | 150–2,500 pages |
| Paper input | 250-sheet standard cassette and 1-sheet manual feed slot |
| ADF | 50-sheet duplex automatic document feeder |
| Connections | Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, and USB |
| Memory and display | 1 GB shared memory and a 5-inch color touch LCD |
| Dimensions and weight | 16.8 × 18.2 × 15.7 inches; 48.5 lb |
The 26 ppm figure is a manufacturer-stated maximum, not a promise that every job will print at that rate. Actual throughput varies with the document and print settings. The listed monthly range is Canon’s recommended volume, not a stated hard maximum.

- Color, Wireless, Duplex 4-in-1: Print, scan, copy, fax.
At 48.5 lb and nearly 17 × 18 inches at the base, this is not a compact personal printer. Check the current Canon specification sheet and measure the intended location if exact dimensions or fit are important.
Which MF660-series variant should you choose?
Check the complete model number and the market where it is sold. The variants differ in fax and duplex ADF scanning, so a similar-looking name does not guarantee the same workflow features.

How much toner does it use?
Canon’s MF660-series User’s Guide gives average replacement yields based on ISO/IEC 19798 and the conditions described in that guide. They are estimates, not guaranteed page counts; coverage, job mix, and usage affect how long a cartridge lasts.

| Cartridge | Black average yield | Each color average yield |
|---|---|---|
| 075 | 1,400 pages | 1,300 pages |
| 075 H | 3,500 pages | 2,500 pages |
| Toner supplied with printer | 700 pages | 500 pages |
When estimating running costs, use the yield for the cartridge you would actually buy and the current price in your region; no current toner prices were verified here. Canon’s guide says, “For optimum print quality, using Canon genuine toner cartridges is recommended.” That is Canon’s recommendation, not evidence that third-party toner cannot work.

RTINGS identifies the Brother MFC-L3780CDW as a comparison point, but the available information does not establish a complete current head-to-head across price and every feature. Make the comparison against your own workload rather than assuming one model wins on every measure.

Who is the MF665Cdw best for?
Choose it as a candidate if you want a color laser multifunction printer for a small business, home office, or document-heavy household, and will make use of its scanning, copying, fax, and connectivity options. It is a weaker match if you chiefly want photo printing, need a small lightweight machine, or do not need the features that distinguish it from less-equipped variants.
