No. Sportsbet says it cannot be accessed on a device using a VPN, and customers staying or holidaying outside Australia cannot access their account. A VPN is not a supported way around either restriction.
What Sportsbet says about VPNs and overseas access
Sportsbet Help Centre’s current “Using A VPN While On Sportsbet” page states: “Sportsbet will not be accessible on a device using a VPN.” The page did not surface a publication or update date; this guidance was checked on 4 October 2026.
Sportsbet’s Restricted Territories guidance says customers staying or holidaying outside Australia cannot access their Sportsbet account. Sportsbet says access for customers in New Zealand ended on 1 July 2025 because of legislative changes.
Who Sportsbet says may hold and use an account
Sportsbet’s General Rules, last updated and effective from 11 February 2026, require account holders to be at least 18 and resident in Australia. They say that, for legal and/or commercial reasons, people who reside outside Australia may not open or use an account, and customers must not attempt to bypass access restrictions.

Possible account consequences
Under the General Rules, Sportsbet may suspend or permanently close an account if its monitoring indicates that a customer may be in a restricted jurisdiction and betting. The rules also say winnings may be forfeited if an account was opened contrary to the rules. These are possible actions at Sportsbet’s discretion, not stated automatic outcomes for every access attempt.

If Sportsbet reports your location incorrectly while you are in Australia
Sportsbet’s Restricted Territories help page recommends checking your device’s location permissions:
- Enable Location Services on your device and allow Sportsbet to use your location.
- If those settings are already enabled, turn Location Services off and back on.
- Enable Precise Location for Sportsbet, where your device offers that option.
Sportsbet’s General Rules say app location data is used by integrated security systems for account security and fraud prevention. If the location error remains, contact Sportsbet through its official help centre rather than trying to mask or alter your location.
