Usually, yes—provided the destination’s mains supply is within the rating printed on your console. Sony’s CFI-71XX PS5 Pro Safety Guide lists 100–240 V and 50/60 Hz, but Sony does not advise using a voltage transformer or inverter. The bigger import caveat is service: Sony Japan states a one-year warranty for new PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles, while the evidence does not confirm that standard-warranty repairs are available outside Japan.
Do not confuse the standard Japanese PS5 Pro with Sony’s separate Japanese-language-only PS5 Digital Edition. Sony explicitly limits that particular model to Japanese-language use, Japan-region PlayStation accounts, and domestic use; those restrictions are not established for the PS5 Pro.

Is a Japanese PS5 Pro region-locked?
Sony’s Japanese PS5 Pro product page does not establish that the standard Japan-market PS5 Pro requires a Japanese PlayStation account or that all games, languages, or add-on content will work identically across regions. It would be inaccurate to infer either a blanket restriction or a guarantee of unrestricted compatibility from the available PS5 Pro information.
Sony does document a separate Japanese-language-only PS5 Digital Edition. Sony says that model’s system language is Japanese, it can be used only with a PlayStation account registered to Japan, and it is intended for use in Japan. Those statements apply to that specific Digital Edition, not automatically to a Japanese PS5 Pro.

- Ray Tracing - Immerse yourself in worlds with a new level of realism as rays of light are individually simulated, creating true-to-life shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games.
- Faster Loading - Fast-travel across the map and get back into the game almost instantly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-high-speed SSD and fast load times.
- Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
- Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
- Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.
- Before buying, check that your PlayStation account’s country/region can access the store and services you need.
- Check the language options and any region-sensitive features for each game you plan to play.
- For downloadable content, confirm compatibility with the specific game and its edition rather than assuming content from different regions will match.
Sony’s Japanese PS5 Pro listing describes the console and its digital configuration, but does not settle every account, store, game-language, or DLC scenario for overseas owners.
Will the Japanese PS5 Pro work with power abroad?
The Sony CFI-71XX PS5 Pro Safety Guide specifies 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz. If the destination supply falls within the rating printed on your individual console, the electrical rating is suitable in principle. Check the label on the actual unit, since the cited guide may not cover every model revision.
Sony’s safety guide says: “Do not connect the AC power cord to a voltage transformer or inverter.” Do not treat a transformer or inverter as a routine solution. If the Japanese plug does not fit the destination outlet, a plug adapter may address the physical fit, but it does not change voltage. Follow local electrical requirements and use a safe, suitable outlet.

Will Sony honor the warranty in your country?
Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan’s PS5 and PS5 Pro warranty and after-service terms state that a new console has a one-year warranty from its purchase date. Sony requires proof of purchase that shows the date, store, and product.
The cited Japanese terms do not confirm that a service center outside Japan will accept a Japan-market PS5 Pro under that standard warranty. Treat local cross-border repair coverage as unconfirmed, keep the dated receipt, and ask PlayStation support in both the purchase country and your destination country before relying on overseas service.

For the separate extended warranty, Sony Japan’s terms state, “延長保証サービスは日本国内においてだけ有効です”—the extended-warranty service is valid only within Japan.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the Japanese PS5 Pro include a disc drive?
No. Sony’s Japanese product page lists the PS5 Pro as a digital console without an included disc drive. Sony says a compatible separately sold drive enables playback of PS5 and PS4 game discs and movie formats. Its PS5 Pro compatibility guide identifies the disc drive with cover as compatible with PS5 Pro; it also says PS5 slim covers (CFI-1000 and CFI-2000 groups) and the original PS5 base are not compatible.

What to check before importing one
- Confirm the model. Verify that the product is the standard PS5 Pro, not the distinct Japanese-language-only PS5 Digital Edition.
- Check the console label and outlet. Compare the unit’s voltage and frequency rating with the destination supply, then check whether the plug fits safely. Do not use a voltage transformer or inverter contrary to Sony’s warning.
- Verify software needs. Check account/store access and the language, features, and DLC rules for the particular games you want.
- Plan for physical media. If you need discs, account for the separately sold compatible drive.
- Get a clear service answer. Ask Sony support whether a Japanese-market console can be serviced where you live, and retain the purchase proof Sony Japan requires for warranty claims.
These checks matter more than the label “Japanese” by itself: power suitability depends on the specific unit and destination, while software compatibility and repair access need confirmation for the intended account, games, and country.
