Yes. For an athlete highlight, Hudl’s documented route is to purchase a download link, save the highlight as a video file, then upload that file in YouTube Studio. If you want to stream an event live instead, direct Hudl Focus streaming to YouTube is limited to Hudl Premium Streaming packages; Standard Streaming partners use Production Truck.
Choose the right Hudl-to-YouTube route

Upload a Hudl athlete highlight
1. Order the highlight download from Hudl
- Log in to Hudl and hover over your account name.
- Open Your Highlights, select the highlight, and choose Order Highlight.
- Complete the download order. Hudl says the download link is emailed to the billing address within a few hours. The support page lists an optional $5 HD upgrade only when the original video was uploaded in high definition; these details may change. See Hudl’s current highlight-order instructions.
- Use the emailed link to download the video file to your computer. Hudl says its former DVD option is no longer available and recommends ordering a download link.
Hudl Support’s FAQ answer to “How do I upload highlights to YouTube?” is: “You’ll need to purchase a download link of the highlight to upload it to YouTube.” This is a file-access step; it does not establish that you own all rights to the footage or other content in the highlight.
2. Upload the downloaded file in YouTube Studio
- On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio.
- Select Create, then Upload videos.
- Select the downloaded Hudl video file. YouTube Help says you can select up to 15 videos at a time.
- Add the title and other video details, review the Checks results, and choose the visibility setting.
- Save or publish as appropriate. Uploading imports the file into YouTube; it does not automatically make the video public. YouTube’s video-upload instructions.
Livestream a Hudl Focus event to YouTube
Hudl’s published instructions distinguish between streaming packages: Premium Streaming packages support direct streaming to YouTube through Hudl Focus, while Standard Streaming partners must broadcast through Production Truck. Confirm your organization’s package and account permissions before planning around direct streaming; availability and interface steps can change.

- For a scheduled event, open the event in Hudl, select the YouTube channel, and save.
- In the Hudl Focus app, choose the livestream destinations and enable the relevant YouTube account.
- Check the venue’s upload speed before the event. Hudl recommends greater than 10 Mbps for Focus livestreams and says Focus sends video to YouTube in 1080 HD. Those are Hudl’s product guidance, not a performance guarantee for every network or event. Read Hudl’s Focus streaming guidance.
If the video is in a team library
Do not assume every team video can be exported directly to YouTube. Hudl’s computer-upload guidance describes bringing local camera files into Hudl and configuring sharing with athletes or groups; it does not document a general team-library-to-YouTube export. Hudl’s sharing instructions describe downloading selected clips to create shareable links and publishing highlights on a team page.

Ask a team administrator or check the video’s available actions to confirm your role permits a download or export. Use Hudl’s supported options; do not use unofficial downloaders or attempt to bypass access controls. Hudl’s computer-upload guidance and Hudl’s clip-sharing guidance.
Check rights and choose YouTube visibility
Confirm you can publish everything in the video
Before uploading, make sure you have the rights or permissions needed for the footage and any protected elements in it, such as music or third-party clips. YouTube says another person’s work can lead to a Content ID claim or a copyright removal request. Giving credit or describing a use as educational or nonprofit does not automatically provide permission. A Hudl download purchase supplies a file-access route, but by itself does not show that you own every underlying right. YouTube’s copyright guidance.

Select visibility for the audience you intend
- Public: The video can appear on your channel and in YouTube search and recommendations.
- Private: Access is limited to you and people you select.
- Unlisted: The video is not normally listed in search, but anyone with the link can view and reshare it. Unlisted is not confidential access control.

Use the right license
YouTube’s default is the Standard YouTube license. Its Creative Commons Attribution option is for content that can legally be licensed under CC BY, such as your own eligible original content, qualifying CC BY material, or public-domain content. Do not apply CC BY to team footage unless you actually have the rights to grant others permission to reuse it. YouTube’s license options.
