Yes, you can transfer compatible PS4 saved data to a PS5 to continue playing the PS4 edition of a Kingdom Hearts game. Sony supports PS4-save transfer by console, USB drive, or PlayStation Plus cloud storage. That does not confirm that a separate native PS5 edition can import a PS4 save or automatically unlock its trophies. Treat those as separate questions: Sony’s general transfer steps cover console data, not Kingdom Hearts version-specific migration.
Which kind of transfer do you mean?
| Situation | What is supported | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Continue the PS4 edition on PS5 | Sony documents transferring PS4 saved data to PS5 by console transfer, USB, or PlayStation Plus cloud storage. PS5 supports the overwhelming majority of PS4 games. Sony’s data-transfer guide and backward-compatibility guidance. | Compatibility of every Kingdom Hearts title and save in every user’s circumstances is not confirmed by the general guidance. |
| Import progress into a distinct native PS5 edition | No Kingdom Hearts-specific import policy is established by the official sources cited here. | Whether that edition imports a PS4 save, and whether it auto-awards trophies, is not established. |
Sony describes PS4-to-PS5 data transfer generally, while its backward-compatibility page says PS5 is compatible with the “overwhelming majority” of PS4 games. Neither statement guarantees that a particular Kingdom Hearts save will transfer into a separate PS5 release.

Transfer a PS4 save to PS5 to play the PS4 edition
Console-to-console transfer
- Sign in to the same PlayStation account on both consoles and make sure their system software is up to date.
- On the PS4, synchronize your trophy information before the transfer.
- Connect both consoles to the same network.
- On PS5, open Settings > System > System Software > Data Transfer and follow the on-screen instructions. After initial PS5 setup, the PS4 save transfer applies only to the user signed in on the PS5.
Sony’s transfer instructions cover compatible PS4 saved data. Synchronizing trophies is a recommended preparation step; it does not prove that a separate PS5 edition will import those trophies.
USB drive or PlayStation Plus cloud storage
If you do not use console-to-console transfer, Sony also supports copying PS4 saved data to a USB drive and then copying it to PS5. PlayStation Plus members can instead download saved data from cloud storage. These are optional alternatives; a USB drive is not a workaround for a game edition that does not support importing PS4 saves. See Sony’s saved-data transfer guidance for the applicable steps.

Do Kingdom Hearts trophies carry over?
Trophy synchronization and trophy migration between game editions are different. Sony recommends synchronizing trophy information on the source PS4 before transferring data. That keeps the account’s trophy information current; it does not guarantee that trophies earned in a PS4 edition will unlock again in a distinct native PS5 edition.
No official Kingdom Hearts-specific policy for automatic trophy unlocks in a separate PS5 edition is established by the cited sources. Do not assume that transferring the save will also migrate trophies across editions.

If the save does not appear on PS5
- Check that you are launching the PS4 edition, not a separate native PS5 edition.
- Check that you are signed in to the PlayStation account associated with the source save.
- Confirm that the transfer method completed and that the saved data is present on the PS5.
Sony’s general guidance does not diagnose Kingdom Hearts-specific save-region or title-version mismatches, so those should not be treated as confirmed causes without game-specific support information.
