There is no documented universal switch that stops Meta from using every kind of smart-glasses data for AI training. Meta says you can review privacy controls in the Meta AI app and delete Meta AI voice recordings; it says deleted information will not be used for future training. But deletion does not immediately change a model that may already have learned patterns from that information.
Review the Meta AI app’s privacy controls
Open the Meta AI app and review its current controls for captures, voice, notifications, and information shared with Meta. Meta describes these preferences and management options on its Responsible innovation in AI glasses and Quest page. The page does not give a dependable menu-by-menu route, and labels may change, so use the controls currently shown in your app rather than relying on an assumed path.
Check the privacy information for your glasses model and account region as well. Meta’s cited materials do not establish that every control is available in every version or country.

Meta says users can delete their Meta AI voice recordings. It describes the effect as prospective: “However, your information itself will be deleted and once it’s been deleted, it won’t be used for future training.” Meta also cautions that deleting information does not immediately change a model that learned patterns from it.

That is a specific claim about deleted information and future training—not a promise to reverse prior model learning or exclude every kind of glasses-related information from every training process. Meta’s statements describe its own products and practices; they are not an independent audit of data flows.
Understand what happens to captures and AI interactions
| Action or data | What Meta says | What that means for training concerns |
|---|---|---|
| Gallery photos and videos | They stay on the glasses until the wearer chooses to import them to a phone. | Capture alone is not the same as choosing to import, use Meta AI, or share the material. |
| Using Meta AI or sharing material | The wearer may choose whether to use Meta AI or share captured material. | Do not assume every capture is automatically posted or sent to AI; review the app’s current controls and sharing choices. |
| Deleted Meta AI voice recordings | Meta says deleted information will not be used for future training, but the model does not change immediately. | This does not establish a universal opt-out or undo learning that may already have occurred. |
These storage and choice descriptions are from Meta’s Meta’s AI Glasses: Your Questions Answered. They distinguish ordinary gallery capture from interactions with Meta AI and user-directed sharing.

Do not treat the capture light as a training control
The capture LED signals that the glasses are capturing. Meta says its second-generation glasses disable the camera when the LED is detected as blocked. That safeguard concerns camera operation; it is not described as a training opt-out.

What you can and cannot conclude
- You can review app preferences and Meta’s stated deletion option for Meta AI voice recordings.
- Meta says deleted information is not used for future training, while also saying deletion does not immediately alter a model that may have learned from it.
- The cited official pages do not promise that one setting prevents all smart-glasses data from being used for training.
- Because controls may vary, check the current app and local privacy information for your model and region.
