Not indefinitely on Google Cloud’s published free offers. An eligible new user may be able to test a cloud-hosted YouTube podcast stream with Google Cloud’s temporary trial credit, but that credit expires or runs out, and the published always-free Compute Engine VM allowance applies to specified US regions—not an India-region VM. Compute, network egress, storage, and YouTube’s stream and archive limits still matter.
What Google Cloud’s free offers cover
The trial is temporary
Google Cloud’s current Free Program documentation describes a $300 welcome credit for eligible new users, valid for 90 days. A payment method is required for signup and verification. If the credit is exhausted or 90 days pass without upgrading to a paid billing account, the Free Trial billing account closes and its associated projects and resources stop. See Google Cloud’s free trial terms for current eligibility and conditions.
This can support a trial deployment, but it is not evidence that a 24/7 stream will run free for the full 90 days: the actual duration depends on the selected region and VM, encoding workload, storage, bitrate, and network use. No configured workload cost is established here, so do not assume the credit lasts for a particular number of days.
The always-free VM allowance is limited by region
Google Cloud’s Free Tier lists one e2-micro VM in specified US regions. Google says the monthly hours are sufficient for one VM to run continuously through the month. That allowance does not establish a free VM in India. For an India-region deployment—or a different machine type—check the current region-specific VM, storage, and network-egress charges before launching. What this means for a creator in India
An Indian creator can use a cloud server located elsewhere, but the published free VM allowance is not an India-hosted offer. Whether the server must be in India depends on the production’s needs; Indian viewers alone do not make an India-region VM a technical requirement. Google’s reviewed documentation does not fully establish India-specific trial eligibility, accepted payment methods for each account, currency conversion, or tax treatment. Check the signup and billing screens for your account and location before relying on the offer.
What an always-on cloud podcast stream requires
A channel eligible to livestream
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. For an encoder-based broadcast, create or schedule the stream in YouTube Live Control Room, then use the stream URL and stream key YouTube provides. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to broadcast to your stream. Check YouTube’s live-streaming setup requirements before configuring the encoder.

An encoder and a suitable cloud machine
The VM must be able to read the podcast recording or playlist, encode or relay it in a format YouTube accepts, and maintain an outbound connection. Follow YouTube’s current encoder guidance for protocol, codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval rather than copying settings from an older guide. The right VM size depends on whether the workload encodes video in real time or sends an already-compatible stream; a small VM should not be assumed adequate without testing.

Use YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance as the configuration reference. Test the full path before going live and watch stream health in YouTube Studio. YouTube recommends at least 20% network headroom above the combined bitrate of the streams you send; the cloud deployment also needs sufficient outbound capacity, which may incur charges not covered by the free VM allowance. Restart, monitoring, and archive plans
A 24/7 service needs a way to restart the encoder after a process or machine failure, monitoring that alerts you when the stream stops, and a recovery plan for dropped connections. A VM can run unattended, but merely starting an encoder once does not guarantee continuous availability. Test restarts and reconnect behavior, and check YouTube’s stream-health indicators during a trial run.
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast as a complete recording. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If an archive matters, use shorter planned sessions and keep a separate local recording backup. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Rights and YouTube policy still apply
Cloud credits do not change what you are allowed to broadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for having the necessary rights, including music licensing rights, and for complying with applicable laws. Confirm rights for music, clips, guest material, and other included content before broadcasting; a podcast being available to stream does not by itself establish that its music is cleared. - Confirm eligibility. Review the current Google Cloud trial signup terms, including the payment-method and verification requirements, and check the conditions shown to your India-based account.
- Choose the server region deliberately. Decide whether the VM needs to be in India or whether another region meets your needs. Do not apply the specified-US-region e2-micro allowance to an India VM.
- Estimate the actual deployment. Price the selected VM, storage, network egress at your intended bitrate, and any other services. The $300 credit is temporary and does not prove a particular runtime for your setup.
- Configure YouTube and the encoder. Verify the channel, obtain the stream URL and key from YouTube, apply current supported encoder settings, and run a test while watching stream health.
- Plan continuity and recordings. Test process and connection recovery, decide how you will detect an outage, and make separate recording arrangements if the archive is important.
- Clear the content. Confirm the rights and permissions for everything in the podcast stream before it goes live.
