Yes, a clip reported in October 2026 shows The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild running on a jailbroken PlayStation 5—but it is the Wii U version running through Cemu, not the Switch version running in Yuzu or Ryujinx. One report describes the footage as 4K at 30 FPS; that is a reported demonstration, not an independently verified benchmark.
What the PS5 footage shows
A clip appeared on X on October 4, 2026, and gaming outlets reported it on October 5 and 6. The reported setup uses PS5CEMU-HAR, an unofficial homebrew app that runs Cemu, a Wii U emulator. For this demonstration, Cemu runs the Wii U release of Breath of the Wild.
That distinction matters: this is not Yuzu or Ryujinx running the Switch release on a PS5. Those projects emulate Switch games; the PS5 clip uses Cemu and the Wii U version. GamesRadar’s October 5 report covered the clip, while El Chapuzas Informático’s October 6 report identifies the Wii U and Cemu setup.

El Chapuzas Informático describes output at native 3840 × 2160 and reports 30 FPS. It also says an attempted 60 FPS patch reached about 40 FPS with stability problems. Those are secondary-report descriptions of the demonstration, not results from an independent lab test or a verified hands-on benchmark. The footage supports saying the game was shown running; it does not establish consistent performance across gameplay or PS5 consoles.

What PS5CEMU-HAR is—and what it requires
PS5CEMU-HAR bundles Cemu for Wii U emulation and Azahar for 3DS emulation. Its maintainers describe it as unofficial and say it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Cemu or Azahar teams, Nintendo, or Sony. The project documentation says firmware compatibility depends on the specific PS5 firmware and may change; using the app therefore requires a jailbroken console on firmware supported by the homebrew scene.
The project says it does not include game files, keys, firmware, or other copyrighted console data. It also notes that its Wii U game compatibility experience is broader than its 3DS testing on real hardware. These are project statements, not a guarantee that a particular game, firmware, or console setup will work.

Did Nintendo take down Yuzu and Ryujinx?
The headline shorthand needs qualification. Ryujinx’s documentation says the original project was discontinued on October 1, 2024; that does not establish that Nintendo directly removed every Ryujinx repository. On February 12, 2026, Nintendo submitted a GitHub DMCA notice naming multiple Switch emulator repositories associated with Yuzu and Ryujinx. In that notice Nintendo alleges that the repositories circumvent its technical protections. That is Nintendo’s stated allegation, not a court ruling that settles the legal status of every emulator.

How the PS5 option differs from Nintendo’s official version
The PS5 clip and Nintendo’s official option are not like-for-like performance tests: one is an unofficial Wii U emulation demonstration, while the other is Nintendo’s supported Switch 2 Edition. Nintendo support lists update 1.9.0 for the Switch 2 Edition, released February 17, 2026.

Can you play Breath of the Wild on PS5, and does Yuzu run on PS5?
The footage is evidence of a particular Wii U-version setup on a jailbroken PS5 using Cemu. It is not evidence that Yuzu or Ryujinx runs on PS5, nor does it show Nintendo’s Switch version running there. The demonstration also does not mean a standard PS5 can play the game through an official Sony or Nintendo release.
