Yes. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection lets friends play classic Mortal Kombat online in hosted Online Arcade rooms, which can be joined using a shared room code. Krossplay supports PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC, with a notable exception: Mortal Kombat Trilogy does not support online crossplay on original Nintendo Switch consoles.
How to play classic Mortal Kombat online with friends
The current official option identified for online classic matches is Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. It brings together classic arcade games and selected home versions, with online play. Atari describes the collection’s online modes, while Digital Eclipse’s update notes explain how to set up a friend session.

- Check that each player has Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection on a supported platform and that the group’s chosen game versions are compatible.
- In the game, open Online Options and turn on Krossplay if players are on different platforms. It is off by default.
- Have one player host an Online Arcade room.
- Share the room’s unique code with the friends you want to invite so they can join.
The official collection page says players on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC can meet in shared online lobbies or Quick Play sessions. The room-code option is the clearest route when you want to arrange a match with specific friends rather than rely on finding one another through matchmaking.

Which platforms and game versions work together?
Krossplay works in Quick Play and Online Arcade across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC, provided it is enabled in Online Options. For a PlayStation purchase, the official listing identifies PS4 and PS5 versions and advertises online battles with rollback netcode. That feature describes the game’s networking approach; it does not guarantee a particular connection quality in every match.

Original Nintendo Switch and Mortal Kombat Trilogy
There is one important compatibility exception: Mortal Kombat Trilogy is unavailable for online crossplay when played on original Nintendo Switch consoles, due to technical limitations noted by Digital Eclipse. If your group wants that specific game across platforms and one player uses an original Switch, choose another supported version or game before organizing the session.
Online 2-on-2 is limited to four named versions
Digital Eclipse identifies online 2-on-2 support for these versions:

What to check before arranging a match
- Platform: Confirm whether everyone is on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or PC, and enable Krossplay for a mixed-platform group.
- Game version: Agree on a particular classic game and version, especially if you want online 2-on-2.
- Switch exception: If someone has an original Nintendo Switch and the group wants Mortal Kombat Trilogy, account for the lack of online crossplay for that combination.
- Access and availability: Check that the collection is available for each player’s platform and edition. Platform-specific subscription requirements are not established across all platforms here, so verify those separately with the relevant platform.
