The HP Pavilion TP01-3003w can edit video, but it is not a strong choice if video editing speed is your priority. Consumer Reports found this exact configuration slow at editing videos in its comparative testing, despite its Intel Core i5-12400, 12GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD. The $349.99 price was reported in a July 24, 2024 deal article; it is historical, not a confirmed current offer.
Which HP Pavilion desktop was advertised for $350?
The model most closely matching that deal is the HP Pavilion TP01-3003w. Consumer Reports identifies its tested configuration as an Intel Core i5-12400 processor, 12GB of memory, a 512GB solid-state drive, integrated Intel UHD Graphics 730, and Windows 11 Home. A Walmart product result also lists the i5-12400, 12GB SDRAM, and 512GB SSD; HP associates the TP01-3003w with product number 318K3AA. Check the exact model and included specifications on the listing before buying, since the Pavilion name covers multiple configurations. Consumer Reports’ TP01-3003w details, Walmart product results, and HP support for product 318K3AA help confirm the identity and configuration.
What does the editing evidence say?
Video editing was slow in Consumer Reports’ testing
Consumer Reports says the TP01-3003w was slow for editing videos in its comparative testing. Its published summary does not specify the editing application, video resolution, codec, project complexity, or effects used, so the result does not establish how it would perform on every type of project. It is nevertheless direct evidence about this exact desktop, and a reason not to assume that the processor and memory make it a fast editing machine.
It was faster for everyday tasks
Consumer Reports also writes: “Compared to other tested desktops, it was fast for common tasks such as web browsing and video conferencing.” That finding concerns everyday use, not editing; it should not be read as evidence that video projects will render or play back quickly.

Software compatibility is not a performance benchmark
The July 24, 2024 deal article described this configuration as suitable for content-creation software and named Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Photoshop, and Illustrator. That is the article’s compatibility claim, not an application benchmark or proof that demanding editing projects run smoothly. The same article’s historical offer was $349.99; the sources available here do not confirm that price or offer is still available. Boing Boing’s July 24, 2024 deal article.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is it a sensible desktop to buy for video editing?
Consider it only if the specific machine is available at a price that suits you and your editing needs are modest. The test result does not tell us how it handles a particular workflow, so look for evidence on the applications and kinds of footage you actually use before relying on it for regular editing. If fast editing is the main reason for buying, the available evidence gives little basis to recommend this model: the independent comparative review specifically reports slow video-editing performance.
