No—IMDb does not offer free downloads of full movies. IMDb is a movie-discovery service: a title page may show licensed streaming, rental, or purchase options, but the provider—not IMDb—handles access and payment. Those options depend on the movie and your location.
What IMDb lets you watch or download
IMDb’s Watch options point to providers that may stream, rent, or sell a particular title. IMDb does not provide the full movie itself as a free download. The provider sets the terms for any subscription or transaction.

The IMDb app is also for discovery, not offline feature films. IMDb’s Android FAQ and iOS FAQ describe title information and video content, and say an internet connection is needed for live IMDb data. They do not describe downloading full movies for offline viewing. Installing the app downloads the app, not a film.

A title’s Videos section may include trailers, clips, interviews, featurettes, and IMDb original videos. These are not the full movie. Some partner-provided videos may also disappear when their availability window ends. IMDbPro is a separate membership for entertainment professionals, not a movie-streaming service. How to find a licensed way to watch a movie
- Search IMDb for the specific film and open its title page.
- Look below the poster for Watch options. The providers shown are title- and region-dependent; IMDb may list a streaming service or a rental or purchase option.
- Open the provider’s own listing. Check whether the movie is included with a subscription or requires a separate rental or purchase, and confirm that it is available in your country.
- Check offline viewing with that provider. If you want to watch without an internet connection, verify the provider’s current device, plan, and download rules. An IMDb listing does not establish that a provider supports offline viewing for your account.
- Choose a physical copy if that suits you. IMDb may link to a DVD or Blu-ray listing for a particular movie when one is available. This is a title-specific purchase option, not a movie download.
IMDb states that transactions and subscriptions are handled directly by each provider, not by IMDb. The provider’s current terms determine what you can watch and how.
How to compare the options for your movie
- Availability: Is the title offered in your country?
- Cost structure: Is it included with a subscription, or is there a one-time rental or purchase?
- Offline access: Does the provider allow downloads on your device and plan?
- Format: Do you prefer a digital license or a physical disc, if one is available?
IMDb can help surface providers for a title, but availability can vary and some movies may have no listed digital or physical option. Confirm details with the provider or seller before paying.

Does IMDb itself cost money?
IMDb.com is free for non-commercial use and supported by advertising. IMDbPro is a separate paid membership; neither fact means full movies are available as free IMDb downloads. See IMDb’s cost information.
