No. As of Microsoft’s current Windows 11 Focus documentation, there is no setting that lets you pick a custom sound for the moment a Focus session ends. Microsoft describes that moment as a notification, not an alarm, and the Focus settings page does not offer a sound picker. You can still change related sounds, and this guide explains which controls reach which alerts, so you know where to look and where the options stop.

What the Focus end alert actually is

Focus sessions in Windows 11 are linked to focus periods in the Clock app. When a session finishes, Windows tells you through a notification. Microsoft’s Focus support page states: “You’ll receive a notification when your focus session ends.” That page applies to both Windows 11 and Windows 10 and describes the end event in notification terms only.

This distinction matters. A Clock alarm or timer is a separate feature with its own behavior, and the end of a Focus session is not presented as one of them. Microsoft’s Clock guide, “How to use alarms and timers in the Clock app in Windows,” explains how to create alarms and timers and how to snooze or dismiss an alarm. It says that alarms and timers work even if the app is closed or your device is locked. That statement covers ordinary alarms and timers. It does not extend to Focus sessions, and the guide does not describe choosing a sound for either feature.

Where sound settings reach and where they stop

Windows gives you three general sound controls, plus one accessibility option. None of them is documented as a Focus-specific end-sound selector. The table below sets out what each one controls according to Microsoft’s documentation.

Mechanism Where to find it What it controls Does it set the Focus end sound?
Focus session end notification Settings > System > Focus Session duration, timer display in Clock, taskbar badges and flashing, Do Not Disturb No sound option is listed
Clock alarms and timers Clock app, Alarm and Timer tabs Creating alarms and timers, snooze, dismiss Not a Focus control. Sound choice is not described in the guide
Per-app notification sounds Settings > System > Notifications Banners, notification center display, and a “Play a sound” switch for each app Not established. Microsoft does not map Focus to a notification entry
Listed program event sounds Settings > System > Sound > More sound settings > Sounds Choosing a sound for a listed program event, such as Calendar Reminder Not established. Focus completion is not documented as a listed event
Visual audio cue Settings > Accessibility > Audio “Flash my screen during audio notifications” Not a sound. It is a visual alternative

Because the Focus end event is not documented as a listed program event, changing the Calendar Reminder sound or a per-app notification sound should not be expected to change the Focus end cue. The sources do not establish that mapping in either direction.

Steps to review and adjust what Windows does expose

  1. Open Settings, then go to System > Focus. Review the session duration, the timer display in Clock, the taskbar badge and flashing options, and Do Not Disturb. No sound selector appears on this page.
  2. To start a session, use Settings > System > Focus, the calendar or notification area on the taskbar, or Clock > Focus sessions. The Clock workflow lets you pick a duration and whether to include breaks.
  3. To check whether notifications are being suppressed for an app, open Settings > System > Notifications and review the controls for that app, including banners, notification center display, and “Play a sound.” Treat these as general notification settings, not as a Focus-specific switch.
  4. To review system event sounds, open Settings > System > Sound > More sound settings, then select the Sounds tab. You can assign sounds to listed program events. Use this for general event sounds, not for the Focus end event.

If the end cue is hard to notice

If you are relying on sound and it is not enough, you have two practical options that do not depend on a Focus sound picker.

  • Turn on the visual cue. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio and enable “Flash my screen during audio notifications.” This flashes the screen when an audio notification plays. It does not change the sound itself.
  • Set a separate Clock alarm or timer. If you need a distinct audible reminder at a fixed time, create one in the Clock app. Treat it as a separate reminder. It will not replace the Focus end notification, and the Microsoft Clock guide does not describe how to choose its sound.

Limits of this conclusion

This assessment reflects Microsoft’s support documentation as checked in early October 2026. It describes documented settings, not every possible configuration. It does not rule out changes that Microsoft may add in a future Windows build, nor does it evaluate third-party utilities or registry edits, which Microsoft does not document for this purpose. Anyone who wants to pursue those routes should review them carefully before making changes.

In short, Windows 11 gives you control over Focus duration and display, general notification behavior, system event sounds, and a visual audio cue, but not a custom sound for the end of a Focus session.
