Yes. Blizzard’s Race Change service lets you change a character’s race without changing its faction. It is available in World of Warcraft and WoW Classic Progression, but not WoW Classic Era, according to Blizzard Support. You can buy it through the Battle.net shop or the in-game shop.
How do I change your race in World of Warcraft?
Buy the Race Change service from the Battle.net shop or the World of Warcraft in-game shop, then select the character and follow the purchase flow. Check the current price in the shop for your region; Blizzard’s support article does not establish a current amount. Sales are final. To reverse a completed change, Blizzard says you must purchase another Race Change after the cooldown.
- Open the Battle.net shop or the in-game World of Warcraft shop.
- Choose Race Change and select the character you want to change.
- Complete the purchase and follow the prompts to choose an eligible new race. You may also choose a new name.
Blizzard’s article does not provide a full current class-by-race eligibility list. Check the options presented for your character in the service flow.

Yes. Race Change changes the character’s race, not its faction. It is separate from Faction Change. Character Transfer is also a separate paid service: it moves a character between realms or WoW accounts and has its own restrictions and consequences. See Blizzard’s Character Transfer support article for details.

Who can use Race Change, and what can block it?
Blizzard lists a minimum character level and service-related restrictions. Customer support cannot bypass the restrictions described in its Race Change guidance.
- The character must be at least level 10.
- A pending character service must be completed before a Race Change can be completed.
- If the character completed a race or faction change in the previous 72 hours, it cannot change race again yet.
- A character that was recently boosted must wait 72 hours before using any character service.
What do you lose when you change race?
Blizzard says most character progress and collections remain. Its article also notes that some quest items may not be retained, and some race-specific quests can remain in the log even when they are no longer completable.

| Area | What Blizzard says |
|---|---|
| Character progress and belongings | Equipment, inventory, currency, talents, glyphs, professions, quests, and flight points remain. |
| Collections and social details | Mount, pet, and toy collections; achievements; titles; friends and ignore lists; and guild membership remain. |
| Quest items and race-specific quests | Some quest items may not be retained. Some race-specific quests may remain even if they cannot be completed. |
Reputation effects
When changing between two non-allied races, the character’s capital-city reputation converts to the new race’s capital. Other reputations are unaffected. Blizzard says allied-race reputations are neutral, so changing to or from an allied race does not affect them.

Does Race Change work in WoW Classic Era?
No. Blizzard’s service guidance lists World of Warcraft and WoW Classic Progression as supported, and WoW Classic Era as unavailable. The English support listing was marked updated three months before its search crawl, while the detailed content retrieved was Blizzard’s Spanish rendering with older update metadata.
