A Windows configuration change can improve gaming performance on some PCs, but the headline claim of a 15% gain is not established as a result readers should expect. The available account does not identify the test machine, games, settings, benchmark method, or before-and-after runs, so it cannot show whether the gain was repeatable or caused by a particular tweak.

What the 15% claim does—and does not—tell you

The claim describes a possible outcome from changing BIOS and Windows settings on an existing gaming PC. It is not a verified benchmark or a promise of a typical improvement. Without a documented test setup and repeatable results, the number cannot be independently checked or applied to other computers.

There is also no identified setting that can be endorsed as a reliable FPS boost across Windows PCs. Hardware, game, graphics settings, drivers, and firmware all affect performance, so a change that helps one configuration may do nothing—or cause a problem—on another.

How to check whether a change helps your PC

Treat each adjustment as an experiment. Compare the same game under the same conditions, changing one setting at a time. Otherwise, a difference in frame rate cannot be confidently attributed to the setting you changed.

  1. Record a baseline. Choose a repeatable part of a game and note the Windows version, PC hardware, game version, resolution, graphics settings, and performance measurement method.
  2. Repeat the baseline run. Several runs help reveal ordinary variation. Record average frame rate and, if your measurement tool provides it, frame-time consistency; a higher average alone may not capture stuttering.
  3. Change one setting. Make a single Windows or BIOS adjustment, and record its original value so you can restore it.
  4. Repeat the same test. Keep the scene, resolution, graphics settings, and measurement method unchanged. Compare repeated results rather than relying on one run.
  5. Check stability and usability. Confirm the game and PC remain stable, and consider any security or usability tradeoff before keeping the change.
  6. Revert if needed. If results are inconsistent, performance worsens, or the system becomes unstable, restore the recorded original value.

What makes a performance report credible

A useful quantitative result should identify the machine, game, graphics settings, resolution, measurement method, and results across repeated runs. It should also explain exactly which setting changed. Without those details, a percentage can sound precise while leaving readers unable to judge its cause or reproduce it.

For the same reason, avoid applying BIOS or Windows changes based solely on a claimed percentage. The available account does not establish exact procedures or compatibility for particular Windows versions or hardware, and no universal setting or expected gain is supported.
