In a three-game preview, Snapdragon X Elite gaming looked smooth at 1080p: Laptop Mag’s reviewer reported no dropped frames while playing Baldur’s Gate III, Control and Redout II. But the demos ran on a custom Qualcomm system, not a retail laptop, so they show what the platform could do under those conditions—not how every Snapdragon X Elite laptop will perform.
What the Snapdragon X Elite gaming demo showed
In a hands-on report published April 6, 2024, Madeline Ricchiuto of Laptop Mag tried three games on a custom-built Qualcomm demonstration platform. The system had a 2.8K display and 32 GB of RAM; the games were run at 1080p. Ricchiuto described play as smooth and consistent, with no dropped frames in the demos.
| Game | What the reviewer observed |
|---|---|
| Baldur’s Gate III | An encounter played without stuttering. |
| Control | Smooth play; the integrated Adreno GPU did not deliver the ray-tracing effects discussed in the report. |
| Redout II | The racing presentation appeared particularly smooth. |
These are subjective observations from three demonstrations, not results from a broad game-compatibility survey or a controlled retail-laptop review. The report did not have internal benchmarking tools for the three games, so it does not establish their frame rates.

The report cited a 37.1–38.5 FPS result for 3DMark Wild Life Extreme. That number belongs to the benchmark, not to Baldur’s Gate III, Control or Redout II. The article characterized Wild Life Extreme as a less strenuous test in its suite, making it limited evidence for predicting performance in demanding PC games.

“Buttery smooth” is the reviewer’s impression of those particular demos. It is not a universal performance guarantee, and the observations do not establish how a different game, resolution, graphics preset or laptop configuration will behave.
Why a retail laptop may perform differently
The demo system was not a production consumer laptop. Laptop Mag specifically noted that results could vary with manufacturers’ choices, including RAM, storage and cooling. A laptop’s configuration and thermal design therefore matter alongside the processor; the 2024 demo cannot stand in for testing a specific model.

For a buying decision, check the exact Snapdragon X Elite laptop configuration and the game you intend to play. Look for current, title-specific compatibility information and test results for the same model where possible. Confirm the resolution and graphics settings behind any claimed frame rate, rather than treating the three 1080p demos as a promise for other setups.

Compatibility context has changed since the 2024 hands-on. Microsoft explains that Prism emulates x86 and x64 applications on Windows PCs with Arm processors, but applications that require non-Arm drivers may not function. That distinction matters for games that depend on particular drivers or anti-cheat software; a game launching successfully in general does not by itself establish that every online feature works.

In a November 19, 2025 update, Qualcomm said Windows updates had added AVX and AVX2 emulation for Snapdragon X Series through Prism improvements. Qualcomm also announced general availability of Snapdragon Control Panel for game profiles and graphics settings, and said its then-available driver included fixes and improvements for more than 100 games since launch. These are Qualcomm’s dated vendor statements, not an independently audited count or a guarantee for every title.
Qualcomm said Fortnite was available and optimized for Snapdragon X Series with its upgradeable graphics driver, citing support for Epic Online Services’ Easy Anti-Cheat. The company also said it was working with other anti-cheat providers, including BattlEye, Denuvo, Roblox Hyperion, Tencent ACE, InProtect GameGuard and Uncheater. What to check before buying one for games
- Game support: Confirm that the exact title works on the current Windows-on-Arm setup, including online play and anti-cheat if relevant.
- Specific laptop testing: Prefer results for the retail model you plan to buy. The Qualcomm demo used a custom system with 32 GB RAM, so it does not establish the behavior of another laptop.
- Settings and resolution: Compare performance only when the tested resolution and graphics settings match your expectations.
- Frame-rate evidence: Distinguish game-specific results from synthetic benchmark scores. The 37.1–38.5 FPS figure in the 2024 report was for 3DMark Wild Life Extreme.
For developers, Qualcomm’s Windows-on-Snapdragon developer ecosystem describes support for game development with Adreno graphics and modern graphics APIs. Its guidance emphasizes testing on real Snapdragon devices and optimizing or porting for native Arm performance—an important reminder that compatibility and performance can depend on how a game is built and tested.
