Not yet—not on the evidence currently available. ODYSS says its N1 necklace is designed to detect meals and snacks and create food records in a companion app, reducing routine manual logging. But the device is still in development, and its headline accuracy figure comes from the company’s controlled internal testing—not independent testing of everyday use.
How ODYSS N1 is supposed to work
N1 is a wearable necklace paired with a mobile app. According to ODYSS’s product information, it combines camera, audio, motion, profile, and memory signals to detect eating events, describe or estimate meal contents, and produce meal reports and guidance. The intended benefit is passive capture: you would not need to photograph each meal or enter every item by hand.
That describes the company’s intended system, not a proven ability to identify every food or portion accurately in ordinary life. The published material does not establish independent real-world validation of N1’s recognition.

Published hardware and compatibility details
ODYSS lists a split-body pendant and battery unit, a 120-degree camera, dual microphones, motion sensing, 64 GB of on-device storage, Bluetooth 6.1, and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The company lists compatibility with iOS 16 or later and Android 13 or later, and claims up to 18 hours of battery life. It also describes the necklace as splash- and sweat-resistant. These are pre-launch specifications; ODYSS says final specifications may change.

What the accuracy claim does—and does not—show
ODYSS advertises “>99% eating event accuracy.” The company describes this as internal testing of pre-production units under controlled conditions; its product page does not state a publication year for the figure. It is not an independent result for typical daily use. ODYSS also notes that certain foods, noisy environments, and very short eating events can affect recognition.
A separate 2020 exploratory study of a different research necklace, NeckSense, reported an 81.6% F1-score for eating-episode detection. That study did not test N1, and its result should not be compared directly with ODYSS’s controlled company figure: the devices, tasks, and testing contexts differ.

For a prospective buyer, the practical question is not just whether a device detects an eating event. It is whether it reliably identifies what was eaten and estimates portions well enough to make the resulting journal useful. The available N1 materials do not establish those capabilities independently.
Privacy controls and health limits
ODYSS says the necklace has a physical control to disable the camera and microphone, processes information toward food-related details, and deletes images after processing while retaining structured results in the journal. These are company descriptions; the reviewed materials do not establish that an independent privacy or security audit has verified them.

The company classifies N1 as a general-wellness product, not a medical device. Its scores, meal reports, trends, and guidance are informational—not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice—so they should not be treated as diagnosis or treatment.
Availability, reservations, and price
N1 is in development and pre-launch, rather than an established shipping product. Tom’s Guide’s report from IFA 2026 described it as still a concept and said no shipping date was known at the time of publication. ODYSS’s About page describes development, prototype testing, manufacturing collaboration, and delivery preparation, while the company site offers early access.

If you are weighing N1 against manual logging or another wearable, focus on the details that determine whether it will fit your routine:
Best Value

- Effort: How much entry does the app actually remove, including corrections when a meal is missed or misidentified?
- Recognition evidence: Look for independent real-world results for both eating-event detection and food or portion identification, not just a controlled company accuracy claim.
- Privacy: Confirm how camera and microphone controls work, what data is retained, and whether the stated deletion practices have been independently audited.
- Wearability: Compare the published up-to-18-hour battery claim with your day and charging routine; the final retail specification may change.
- Practical availability: Verify shipping timing, final price and reservation terms, and compatibility with your phone’s operating system.
On the evidence available, N1 is a promising concept for reducing food-logging effort, not a verified way to track everything you eat. Its everyday accuracy, final specifications, and delivery timing remain unsettled.
