The IEEE | Rutgers Online Mini-MBA: Artificial Intelligence is designed to help business managers and technology leaders understand AI’s business uses and plan how their organizations might adopt it. Its curriculum and format address practical AI literacy for decision-makers, but IEEE’s published materials describe intended learning outcomes—not independent evidence that the program closes a measured skills gap.
How the program aims to build business AI skills
The course is positioned as a strategic, nontechnical introduction, rather than technical training in building AI systems. IEEE says learners should gain foundational knowledge to assess AI capabilities, understand how AI affects business functions, collaborate with technical teams or vendors, and develop an organizational roadmap for applying AI. Those goals could help managers participate more effectively in AI decisions, but they are program objectives, not independently verified results.
IEEE describes the program as “demystif[ying] AI for business managers and leaders in technology” by providing foundational knowledge to assess AI capabilities. That is the provider’s description of the course, not an independent evaluation of its effectiveness. IEEE Innovation at Work’s program page

The ten listed course topics connect AI concepts with business decisions and organizational change:
#1 Best Overall
- Introduction to AI
- Data Analytics
- Process Optimization
- AI for Marketing and Sales
- AI for Customer Service and Customer Experience
- ROI of AI
- AI in Finance
- Ethics in AI
- The Future of Work in an AI-Accelerated World
- AI for All: Roadmap to Success in the Agentic Era
The breadth suggests a focus on recognizing use cases, weighing business implications, and considering responsible adoption across functions. The topic list does not establish how deeply any individual subject is taught, nor does it indicate that learners receive technical implementation training.
Format, workload, and course experience
IEEE describes the Mini-MBA as self-paced and online, with video lessons, interactive assessments, live virtual office hours, peer interaction, and a capstone project. The provider says learners can complete it in 12 weeks or less. That is a stated completion window, not a guarantee of a particular weekly workload or a required cohort schedule. Credential, price, and session availability
IEEE describes this as a Mini-MBA and a certificate-bearing professional learning opportunity. The available official material does not establish that it is an accredited MBA degree, so prospective learners should treat it as professional education rather than a substitute for a graduate business degree. The enrollment page currently says “2027 Sessions Coming Soon!” but does not give a confirmed start date. It also does not state tuition or a current individual enrollment price. IEEE invites prospective learners to request more information; confirm session dates, price, discounts, payment terms, and whether an employer will reimburse the course directly with IEEE before enrolling. What the published evidence can—and cannot—show
The official pages explain the intended audience, curriculum, format, and learning objectives. They do not provide an independent assessment showing that participants gain specified skills, that employers see improved AI readiness, or that completing the course changes business outcomes or career prospects. As a result, it is fair to say the Mini-MBA is intended to address business AI literacy; it is not established that it closes a measured AI skills gap.
IEEE lists the program within its wider AI education offerings, which provides catalog context but is not an assessment of learner outcomes. IEEE AI education catalog

Who may find it useful
The stated audience is business managers and technology leaders who need to evaluate AI opportunities, work with technical teams or vendors, or think through adoption across business functions. The strategic, nontechnical framing may suit people seeking a broad introduction rather than hands-on model development.

Before enrolling, consider whether the course’s stated scope matches your needs: review the ten topics, ask IEEE about the depth of instruction and expected workload, and confirm the credential, price, and dates. If you need practical coding or engineering skills, the published course description alone does not establish that this program provides them.
