Possibly—but the evidence is one user’s report, not a repeatable test. A community entry says routing display output through integrated graphics freed about 2.5 GB of VRAM on an RTX 4090 system, letting the user raise Qwen3.8-27B’s configured context setting from 65K to 132K. It does not establish that the change will free the same amount on another PC, or that the model was tested with a full 132K-token prompt.
What the RTX 4090 and Qwen3.8-27B report claims
The Qwen3.8 model page on llamaperf lists an RTX 4090 configuration with a 132,000-token context setting and a reported speed of 125 tokens per second. Its description says the user routed display output to integrated graphics, freeing approximately 2.5 GB of VRAM and increasing the configured context from 65K to 132K. View the llamaperf report.

These are figures from an individual community-submitted account. The report does not name the motherboard or display connector, describe a controlled before-and-after procedure, or isolate the display-routing change from other system variables. The 125 tokens-per-second figure is likewise a reported result for that setup, not an independently reproduced benchmark.
Why moving display output might help—and what it cannot guarantee
A discrete GPU may use some of its memory while driving a display. If a system can instead send display output through its integrated GPU, that may leave more of the RTX 4090’s memory available for inference. The cable is only part of the routing: it must connect the monitor to a usable motherboard video output, and the integrated graphics must be available and configured. The report does not specify its hardware or connector, so it cannot establish a universal setup procedure.
#1 Best Overall
- 16,384 NVIDIA CUDA Cores
- Supports 4K 120Hz HDR, 8K 60Hz HDR and variable refresh rate as indicated in HDMI 2.1A
- New streaming multiprocessors: up to 2x power and power efficiency
- Fourth generation tensor cores: up to 2x AI power
- Third-generation RT cores: up to 2x ray tracing performance
The reported 2.5 GB is not a promised gain. Available VRAM depends on the actual system and workload; compare memory use on your own machine rather than assuming the report’s result will transfer.
Does a 132K setting mean Qwen3.8-27B used a 132K prompt?
No such conclusion follows from the entry. Llamaperf cautions that a context figure may be a configured limit rather than the prompt length used in a timed run. A configured maximum also does not show that a full-length prompt was tested or that output quality remained consistent at that length. Read llamaperf’s notes on interpreting community measurements.
Rank #2
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
That distinction matters when evaluating the claim: raising a setting from 65K to 132K indicates a higher configured limit in the account, not proof of a doubled usable context under real prompts. The page supplies no independent quality evaluation or controlled replication.
How to check whether this helps your system
- Confirm the prerequisites. Your CPU or system must provide integrated graphics, and your motherboard must have a compatible display output. The monitor input and cable connector must also match the motherboard output; the report does not say whether it used HDMI, DisplayPort, or another connection.
- Route the display to the motherboard output. Connect the monitor there and ensure integrated graphics are enabled and recognized by your operating system. Exact firmware and operating-system labels vary, and the community entry does not provide a system-specific setup path.
- Compare VRAM under matched conditions. Record the RTX 4090’s memory use before and after changing display routing while keeping the display setup and inference workload otherwise as consistent as possible. The relevant result is the memory actually available during your own workload.
- Check context in practice. Treat a changed context setting as a configuration result. To assess whether a longer context works for you, test prompts at the lengths you need and evaluate the outputs rather than relying on the maximum setting alone.
How much confidence should you place in the result?
Llamaperf describes its measurements as community-submitted reports and notes that GPU count, offloading, concurrent requests, and other setup details can affect speed comparisons. Its context values may be configured limits rather than timed prompt lengths. The 2.5 GB gain, 65K-to-132K setting change, and 125 tokens per second are useful as one user’s account, but they do not establish causation, repeatability, or a typical outcome.
