Sometimes—but it depends on your state. Voter records may disclose your address, party affiliation, and whether you participated in an election, either through an official list or a third-party site that republishes records. That does not reveal who you voted for: ballot choices remain secret. Check the election office where you are registered to learn which details are public and whether you qualify for a privacy designation.

Can people see who you voted for?

No. Public voter records may show whether you voted in an election, but not which candidate or measure you selected. Leon County, Florida, states: “Whether you voted in an election is also a public record. However, your vote is secret. No one, including election workers, knows who you voted for.” Utah likewise distinguishes public vote history from how a person voted. Leon County Supervisor of Elections · Utah voter portal

Is voter registration information public?

There is no single rule covering every state. State law determines which voter-record fields may be released and how people can access them. In the examples below, some records are available through public requests; that does not necessarily mean every state posts a complete, searchable voter list on the open web. Third-party people-search sites may separately republish or index public information, and their listings may not be complete or current.

Can people see your party registration?

In some jurisdictions, party affiliation is among the voter-record fields available to the public. Utah and the two Florida county examples above list it as public. Whether and how the field is accessible depends on local law and process; do not assume that every state publishes it online.

Party registration does not control your general-election choices

USAGov says that in a general election you may vote for any candidate, regardless of your registered party. Primary and caucus rules vary by state and locality: a closed primary may restrict participation to voters registered with that party, while open contests may let voters choose among parties’ candidates. Leon County describes Florida as a closed-primary state, subject to specified exceptions; in general elections, voters may choose any candidate on their ballot. How to check or protect your voter information

  1. Find your official election office. Use the state or county election authority where you are registered, not a commercial lookup page, to confirm the rules.
  2. Ask what is released and how. Check which fields are public, whether records are searchable online or provided through a list request, and what confidential or at-risk designation may apply. Utah directs voters to their county clerk; Leon County points eligible people to its public-records exemption process.
  3. Check eligibility and submit the local request. Protection categories, forms, and documentation are jurisdiction-specific. Utah lists categories that include victims or potential victims of domestic or dating violence, law-enforcement officers, people with protective orders, members of the armed forces, public figures, and people residing with someone in those categories. Contact the responsible office for current criteria and forms.
  4. Handle third-party listings separately. If a website displays your details, follow its removal instructions and contact its owner or administrator. Broward County warns that public voter information can appear on third-party sites; a request to the election office does not guarantee that copies elsewhere will be erased.
  5. Ask separately about party changes. Changing party affiliation is not the same as obtaining a privacy protection. Confirm both the registration-change rules and public-record rules with your election office.
