One UI’s Equalizer and Dolby Atmos settings can change how the Galaxy Z Fold 8 sounds, but they are not a guaranteed fix for tinny audio or a faulty speaker. Compare the available settings with the same clip at the same moderate volume; if distortion persists across apps and settings, contact Samsung for diagnosis.
Which One UI settings should you try?
Open Settings > Sounds and vibration > Sound quality and effects, then check which controls are available on your phone. Samsung’s guide describes Equalizer presets and manual adjustment, along with Dolby Atmos. Menus and available options can vary with software and region, so use the labels shown on your device or in its current local user guide. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 support page is the starting point for model documentation.
Compare Equalizer options
- Play a familiar clip in an app you normally use and set a moderate, comfortable volume.
- In Sound quality and effects, try the available Equalizer presets one at a time. If manual adjustment is offered, change settings gradually.
- Return to the same part of the clip at the same volume after each change. Keep the option that sounds clearest to you; there is no verified universally best preset.

Compare Dolby Atmos on and off
Listen to the same clip with Dolby Atmos enabled and disabled, keeping volume and playback source unchanged. It may alter the perceived presentation, but user reports about whether it improves tinny sound are mixed, and they do not establish a reliable repair.

How to tell whether the issue is limited to one app
Try more than one app and audio source before concluding the built-in speakers are at fault. If the sound is poor only in one app, check that app’s playback or audio settings and try another clip; the symptom alone does not identify a hardware problem.
Avoid judging sound at maximum volume if distortion is present. In its August 18, 2026 review, What Hi-Fi? reported that some fuzz and distortion could creep in at maximum volume on its review unit. When should you contact Samsung?
If distortion remains across multiple apps and sources after comparing the sound settings, consult Samsung’s current model support guidance and request a diagnosis. Equalizer and Dolby Atmos change audio processing; the available documentation does not say they repair a damaged or defective speaker. Samsung’s support page can direct you to current documentation and service information, which may change over time.
What if you need to listen before the speakers are checked?
