Yes. GaryOderNichts’ unofficial Alarmo Doom project runs a shareware version of Doom on Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, using the clock’s USB loading mode. The demonstration turns Alarmo’s dial and buttons into game controls, but it has no audio support and is not a Nintendo release. The available sources do not provide a verified frame-rate benchmark for the title’s claim that it runs “smoothly.”
What is Alarmo Doom?
Alarmo Doom is an unofficial project by GaryOderNichts described as “Doom for the Nintendo Alarmo.” Its build instructions require the project’s submodules and the shareware doom1.wad game-data file. The repository does not present this as a bundled commercial copy of Doom.
The project is an unusual fit for the device. Nintendo describes Alarmo, in wording reproduced by Alarmo Docs from Nintendo’s official FAQ, as “an interactive alarm clock that’s designed to make waking up fun and add some Nintendo ambience to your home.” It uses motion sensing and scenes from Nintendo games; the Doom project repurposes its controls and USB-loading capability for an unofficial game demo.
How the Doom demo gets onto Alarmo
The documented process has two parts: build the project with the shareware data, then transfer the resulting files through Alarmo’s USB loader. Follow the project repository for the current prerequisites and exact instructions.
#1 Best Overall
- Make waking up fun with Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo
- Prepare the build. Clone the project with its submodules, provide
doom1.wad, and runmakeas described in the repository’s build instructions. - Enter USB loading mode. Use the three-button procedure specified by the repository to put Alarmo into its USB loading mode, then connect the clock to a PC.
- Copy the output. Copy the generated
a.binandMarkFileto the drive exposed by Alarmo. - Launch the demo. The repository says Doom should start after the device disconnects.
The distinction between the device’s early hardware investigation and this loading procedure matters: Tom’s Hardware reports that the published USB method does not require opening or modifying the final Alarmo unit. The report also says the shareware WAD is compressed and unpacked into memory at boot to work around USB-loader memory restrictions.
How it plays—and what “smoothly” does not establish
Reports describe the top dial as a way to aim or turn, with Alarmo’s buttons serving as game controls; one account describes shooting with the notification button. Published descriptions differ on the detailed button mapping, so treat the controls as a demonstration-specific arrangement rather than a standard or fully documented control scheme.

The demonstrated build has no audio support, according to reporting from Tom’s Hardware and HotHardware. The available sources also provide no dependable frame-rate measurement, benchmark, or other named performance statistic. “Runs smoothly” is therefore a description of the demonstration, not a measured performance result.
Alarmo’s software context helps explain why a game experiment can be attempted, but it should not be mistaken for an explanation of this port’s implementation. Alarmo Docs describes the clock’s software stack as C/C++ on FreeRTOS V10.3.1, with much of its main functionality driven by Lua scripts. The project repository separately credits a STM32 Doom port and memory-loading work.

Is this a Nintendo release?
No. Alarmo Doom is an independent project, not a game made, endorsed, or supported by Nintendo. Its use of shareware game data and an unofficial USB-loading procedure makes it a novelty demonstration for the clock, not a commercial release or a normal console experience.
