No: Huawei describes its blood-sugar feature as a multi-day assessment of high-blood-sugar risk, not a direct glucose reading or a continuous glucose monitor (CGM). The watch gathers signals such as sleep and heart-rate data over several days; it does not provide the kind of glucose concentration measurement used to make treatment decisions.
What Huawei’s blood-sugar feature does
Huawei calls the feature a blood sugar health study or high blood sugar risk assessment. Its support information says a compatible watch collects physiological data during the day and night, including sleep and heart rate, then assesses risk after the wearer has supplied data for three to fourteen days. That makes it a sustained assessment, not an instant reading.
Huawei’s support pages do not explain a validated algorithm, publish an accuracy figure, or provide a clinical performance comparison for this feature. The listed signals alone do not establish how accurately it classifies risk. Huawei’s support page for the blood sugar health study describes the collection period and general approach.
Risk assessment versus glucose monitoring
| Question | Huawei risk assessment | Glucose meter or CGM |
|---|---|---|
| What does it report? | Huawei describes an assessment of high-blood-sugar risk, not a glucose concentration. | A glucose measurement from a separate monitoring device. |
| How does it gather information? | Physiological data, including sleep and heart rate, collected over three to fourteen days, according to Huawei. | A glucose meter or CGM measures glucose; the device and method depend on the product. |
| Can it replace a care-plan measurement? | No. Huawei says the feature is not a medical device and its results are not for diagnosis or treatment. | Ask a healthcare professional which device and monitoring plan are appropriate. |
A watch screen can display information from a separate glucose device, but that is different from the watch measuring glucose itself. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warns people not to use smartwatches or smart rings that claim to measure blood glucose without piercing the skin. Its guidance distinguishes those claims from watch apps that display data supplied by an authorized glucose-measuring device. See the FDA safety communication and its overview of blood glucose monitoring devices.

Who Huawei says the study is for
Huawei’s support material identifies adults concerned about blood sugar, including healthy adults and people with type 2 prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. One support page excludes people with type 1 diabetes, gestational diabetes, and certain other special types of diabetes from its stated intended population. These descriptions do not make the feature a diagnostic tool: Huawei says it is not intended for medical use and its results should not be used for diagnosis or treatment. Read the specific Huawei support page listing additional models and use information.
Availability depends on the watch and market
Huawei’s Chinese support pages name selected devices, including WATCH 4/5 family models and, on another page, WATCH GT 7, GT 7 Pro, WATCH 6, and WATCH 6 Pro. These lists differ, and Huawei says WATCH 4/5 high-blood-sugar risk assessment is currently available only in mainland China. Do not assume the function works on every Huawei watch or is available in every country. Check the support information for the exact model, software and local market; Huawei addresses overseas availability on its regional support page.

What to use if you need glucose measurements
If your health decisions depend on glucose readings, use a glucose meter or an appropriate CGM as a separate monitoring device, chosen with a healthcare professional. Do not use Huawei’s risk assessment to adjust insulin, diagnose a condition, or replace a prescribed monitoring plan. The FDA likewise advises people who rely on accurate glucose measurements to talk with a healthcare provider about an appropriate FDA-authorized device.
