Not reliably at the monitor’s native 7680×2160 resolution, according to testing reported in September 2023. Samsung specifies that its 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC’s DUHD 240Hz mode requires a graphics card supporting DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR 13.5 or HDMI 2.1 FRL 6. NVIDIA lists the RTX 4090 with DisplayPort 1.4a, and the cited 2023 testing found RTX 40-series cards unable to run the monitor’s full native resolution at 240Hz. The report did not establish why, and it is not proof of behavior with every later driver or firmware version.
Which Odyssey Neo G9 is involved?
This is a specific compatibility question about the 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC—not every monitor sold under the Neo G9 name. Samsung’s August 23, 2023 announcement specifies a 32:9 screen, 7680×2160 dual-UHD resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, one DisplayPort 2.1 input, and three HDMI 2.1 inputs. Samsung’s G95NC announcement includes the important qualification: “DUHD 240Hz is supported only with graphics cards that support Display Port 2.1 (UHBR 13.5) or HDMI 2.1 (FRL 6). Support and actual refresh rate may vary by graphics card.”
That qualification concerns native 7680×2160 at 240Hz. It does not mean an RTX 4090 cannot use the monitor at all, or that it cannot reach 240Hz at a lower resolution.

What the RTX 4090 testing found—and what it did not
On September 23, 2023, Tom’s Hardware reported on a QuasarZone review finding that RTX 40-series and Intel Arc A700-series cards could not drive 7680×2160 at 240Hz over the connections tested. The report said Radeon RX 7000-series cards could. Treat that as a finding from the cited testing at that time, not a universal result for every graphics-card model, cable, firmware, driver, or present-day setup. Read the Tom’s Hardware account.

The report did not confirm a technical cause. It discussed possible display-pipeline, firmware, software, or Display Stream Compression (DSC) limitations as speculation. Its bandwidth discussion explains why compression matters for this demanding mode, but does not diagnose a specific RTX 4090 fault. No later fix or current RTX 4090 result for native 7680×2160 at 240Hz is established by the cited evidence.
Why the RTX 4090’s published 8K mode is not proof of compatibility
NVIDIA’s official RTX 4090 specifications list three DisplayPort 1.4a connectors and HDMI outputs. NVIDIA also states maximum display-mode guidance of 4K at 240Hz or 8K at 60Hz with DSC. Those figures do not establish support for Samsung’s particular 7680×2160 240Hz timing: Samsung conditions that DUHD mode on the GPU supporting DP 2.1 UHBR 13.5 or HDMI 2.1 FRL 6. NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 specifications also note that other display configurations depend on available bandwidth.

In practical terms, a headline resolution such as “8K” is not enough to determine whether a card can drive a different resolution at a much higher refresh rate. The interface capability, timing, compression support, and exact display configuration all matter.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat you can try with an RTX 4090
If your setup does not offer the monitor’s native 240Hz mode, use the resolution and refresh-rate combinations exposed by your operating system and graphics settings rather than assuming a cable or menu change will unlock it. Samsung’s support article explains that usable refresh rates depend on the monitor, graphics card, and selected resolution. For a different, lower mode—5120×1440 at 240Hz—it advises enabling Game Mode in the monitor menu, checking that the graphics card is current and supports the chosen resolution, and using a certified compatible DisplayPort cable. Those are general steps for that lower mode, not a confirmed fix for the RTX 4090’s reported native DUHD limitation. Samsung’s monitor refresh-rate guidance.

- Keep the RTX 4090: Select a lower resolution or refresh rate that your connected setup actually exposes.
- Check the exact setup: Confirm the monitor input, cable, firmware, driver, and selected display mode. A change may affect available options, but no cited source verifies it as a fix for native DUHD 240Hz on an RTX 4090.
- Consider other graphics hardware only after checking its specifications: The monitor’s DUHD 240Hz requirement is explicit, and the 2023 report described RX 7000-series cards working in its testing. That historical result does not certify every model or current configuration; verify the specific card supports Samsung’s required link mode.
Bottom line
The 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC is specified for 7680×2160 at 240Hz, but Samsung ties that mode to GPU support for DP 2.1 UHBR 13.5 or HDMI 2.1 FRL 6. The RTX 4090’s listed DisplayPort is 1.4a, and September 2023 testing reported that RTX 40-series cards could not reach the monitor’s native 240Hz mode. The cause was unresolved, so neither a universal failure claim nor a later fix is established here.
